49ers-Browns Injury Report: Peyton Hillis Taking First Team Snaps
The 49ers and Browns released their respective Wednesday practice participation reports for Sunday and there are a few things worth discussing. The most notable for the Browns is Peyton Hillis getting back to practice. Hillis has struggled mightily this season due to injuries and some questions about contract distractions.
Hillis has played in four games, and aside from a solid game against the Indianapolis Colts, he just hasn't made anything happen. His backup, Montario Hardesty, has handled the load when Hillis sat, but aside from a solid game against the Miami Dolphins, he too has struggled to get much going. Entering a game against the 49ers ferocious rush defense, that cannot be a good sign for the Browns.
On the 49ers side of the injury report, Braylon Edwards remains a bit of a question mark for Sunday. Earlier in the week, coach Harbaugh had been seemingly optimistic about Edwards' chances of hitting the field Sunday, but he seemed to back off from that a bit. In his pre-practice press conference, Harbaugh said:
From what you saw from WR Braylon Edwards, how does he look out there?
"I think we need a little more evaluation. Might have been a little overly optimistic, just in general, about our guys making it back for this ball game. We'll assess it and determine it day by day."
Why? Once you saw them on the field, they weren't where you thought?
"Just might have been a little overly optimistic as to how far along some of the fellas were."
What's your concern with Braylon?
"Just that it needs to be assessed day by day."
It remains to be seen what to take from this since he could just be playing some mind games with Cleveland. Edwards was on the practice field today and might be best described as simply being realistic about his chances. The 49ers have done solid work without him on the field, but it would be nice to get another big play threat on the field. He spoke with the media after practice (transcript).

I find his injury responses really amusing
Reporter: “For the love of God, will you just tell us what’s wrong with Braylon!?!?!?”
Harbaugh: “… day to day…. reassessed… overly optimistic.”
siri would give u a better answer
It's just a plant, it grows in the earth, and if you happen to set it on fire there are some effects...
Hillis is picking a bad week to stop crying about his contract and get in the game
Considering how the 9ers have left a wake of bodies behind after their games. Miles Austin, Romo, Blount, Best…
I hope Harbaughs comments about Braylon ARE in fact mind games
I think most of us would really love to see him back in action
I hope so too..
But at the same time, I don’t want him rushed back. This is a game we can win without Braylon.
Yea I agree
If he isn’t healthy, they shouldn’t play him, but hopefully Harbaugh is being sneaky

Against Miami and Seattle. Against Seattle, Hardesty rushed 95 yds on 33 carries. Against Miami, 67 yds on 14 carries. In the 4 games he’s started, Hillis has 211 yd on 60 carries, 3.5 avg. He hurt his hammy in the first half against Oakland.. Hardesty was the leading rusher week 6, against Oakland as well, 35 yds on 11 carries. Really just meant to point out that running hasn’t been their strong suit. Not to “look past them”, but seriously… They are not going to run on the niners and will be forced to be one dimensional, like everybody else.

Culliver was wearing a shoulder brace
I see him listed as LP, he didn’t participate in the portion open to the media. Brock’s hand still broken. Can see why Fangio likes to have a lot of DBs.
Any NFL team that doesn't fear the Niners really don't know the deal.
And when's the last time a 3-4 had two inside guys who played all three downs?
I would really like to see him play...
Even if he is limited like Crabtree was earlier in the season. I think it would be good to get some game reps and better timing with A. Smith before the Niners head to Wash. and then host the Giants. If he is not ready then he is not ready and there is no sense in rushing him. The Niners just need him back and ready for Baltimore.
Dang , have we already forgot this ...!!

I'm your " Huckelberry "...it's just my game ...Jimmy Raye your no daisy ...!!
I mean really folks , this is game Seven outta most likely Seventeen games , they got time to still get to Braylon back for the best part of the season ...!!

This is a game of poker with the Braylon thing.

Why?
Are they friends and Braylon doesn’t want to embarrass Joe? lol

Hillis might want to wait a week before coming back.
Running backs haven’t had the best luck wit health against the Niners defense.

That’s fine, but wide receivers haven’t had the best of luck catching passes against Haden.

It is more than just not getting the yards, it’s getting injured too… Not the best team to play against when you want a new contract.
Is that your guys’ thing, injuring players? Did Josh Morgan break his own leg because it’s team protocol? What’s his contract like?

If by thing you mean someone on the other team has been injured, yeah. Nobody wants to injury another player, it just seems to happen. The Niners D seems to hit hard, and the other team gets unlucky. It was a fact, nothing more. If you took it as me, or the Niners wanting to injury other players, you took it the wrong way.
You are right
Tebow wouldn’t do any better at RB than anyone else in the league.
