I was casually browsing through the site and noticed something disturbing. Patrick Willis is not on the roster of the 49ers All Time team. Patrick Willis, the best linebacker in the league, is in his fifth season with the 49ers. In order to qualify for the 49ers All Time team on this site a player must have been on the team for four years. I am calling for a re-vote for inside linebackers.
Stats and more after the jump
From Wikipedia his accomplishments include:
| Career highlights and awards | |
|---|---|
| Career NFL statistics as of Week 17, 2010 | |
|---|---|
| Tackles | 595 |
| Sacks | 15.0 |
| Interceptions | 4 |
| Forced Fumbles | 8 |

And he's just getting better and better.
The current holder of the #2 ILB spot is Gary Plummer. His major achievement with the 49ers is playing in their most recent super bowl In his 4 years with the 49ers he played in 61 regular season games in which he achieved
237 tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception for 1 yard, 4 passes defended, 1 forced fumble
he also played in 8 playoff games including Super Bowl XXIX in those games he achieved
42 tackles and 1 pass defended
If this is the second best linebacker to play for the 49ers, I think at this point the choice is clear. Patrick Willis will have his shot to play in the playoffs this year unless the 49ers have the universe's greatest flop. But even without that, Bamm Bamm is by far the superior linebacker.
I call for a new vote.
It's time to enshrine 52.
