Golden Nuggets: Your Late Night Link Dump Fill-In
Morning to everybody out there as you check in on the Nuggets. I'm filling in for James today and we've got a whole assortment of links. I'd be curious to see how the links pan out when the team is winning versus when the team is losing. Do we see more stories when things are bad, or do good times mean more to read about from the beat writers?
In regards to more links, there are definitely plenty more articles out there in the national media about the 49ers. What I ask of those of you reading this is to post links to those articles in the comments. We have the FanShots for people to link to articles, but given the traffic that comes through the Nuggets, this does operate as a bit of a link dump for you. Later in the day a Fanshot is probably a better bet, but in the morning, feel free to post links in here as you find them for others to see.

NINER COUTNRY
One comment on the bottom of that NFL.com article reminded me of Cornelius’ point the other day about the quality, or otherwise, of comments on non-Niners Nation message boards. It says, so astutely: “SHUT UP! NINER COUTNRY!”
Well, exactly. Couldn’t have put it better myself. Actually, I could, but that’s why I’m a member of Niners Nation, not NINER COUTNRY.

I’ve stopped reading the comments anywhere but here. They make me shake my head in disbelief at the banality of most, not all it must be said, but most of them. You never ever see a constructive discussion between fans like you do here. Another reason why NN is my first port of call every day.

Nice ... ( NN is my first port of call ) ...!!
I'm your " Huckelberry "...it's just my game ...Jimmy Raye your no daisy ...!!
What's the deal with Dixon?
Are we going to get rid of him? He hasn’t shown much but I think there is potential.
Something must be going on with him behind the scenes that the coaches don’t like. This staff seems to go to great pains not to call players out publicly.
or the other thing...
maybe Bruce Miller is their big back and Kendall Hunter is the change of pace guy they’ve been looking for which really doesn’t leave much for Dixon.
Wondering this myself...
They released Omon and replaced him with Ian Johnson, so you would think if they wanted to replace the 3rd RB, it would be a simple choice to promote him. I beleive Johnson is a pretty big dude, too, so I doubt the concern there is that he’s too similar to Hunter.
It might be a sign that the Niners are comfortable enough with sticking with Miller at FB, but still see the need to keep 5 RBs. It could be because of Gore’s health and they want to be safe and have a guy with some more experience waiting in the wings in case they need him.
Either way, no signing, so it’s all speculation for now.
Johnson's build and measurables are directly comparable to Ryan Mathews
Except for Mathews exaggerated 40 time. Clock problems I’d have to guess because he’s never shown 4.3 speed on the field.

depends on Gore
if he slows down or gets injured. Dixon may actually see more carries than Hunter if Gore is out of the lineup.
I thought Dixon...
seemed effective in short yardage situations in this preseason and he was obviously great in last year’s preseason. Either this is trying to add a little “motivation” or there is something going on we don’t know.
None of those three names they brought in ring a bell at all for me. Seems like a wash.

Dang , just tried to listen too ...Alex Smith on 95.7 The Game , thinkin " they need to tone down the reverb ...!!
I'm your " Huckelberry "...it's just my game ...Jimmy Raye your no daisy ...!!
Had to vote for Smith for Fed-Ex Air player...
but after Rodgers’ performance, how could he possibly get it? Rodgers is absolutely unbelievable right now. That team is scary good.
Don't see how you can't....
Their offense is good enough for a shoot-out with anyone, and there defense can stop people when they really need to.
Sucks because it puts another team at the 5 SB title mark. We need a 6th soon damn it.

My two c% but I don't see Green Bay repeating
They’re defense isn’t very good and they’re hyper-paced offense exposes them by putting them on the field so often…they kind of remind me of the Oregon Ducks last year in the BCS title game
...and then Singletary opened His Book and it said "thou shalt NOT pass"

They were playing the Broncos remember
Rodgers is not perfect, though he has a solid core with a good TE and a damn good offensive line. Put a hat on him and his brain is fragile.
