Who would u like to see gone from our 49ers? lemme knw what u think

My feelings.....

Star-divide

Me personally I would love to see Madieu Williams gone!! He is clearly not good at all and just as slow as advertised!! I think Colin Jones will be a good safety to develop, therefore we should try to develop him and get rid of Williams. Btw, I love our starters in Goldson and Whitner. Rachal isn't playing good football particularly either. Wouldn't mind seeing us go after another guard. I think Anthony Davis will come around, he has his good plays. For the most part there's only a couple players that I would like to see gone.

Let me hear u guys opinion.

Colin JOnes

The 49ers drafted him for special teams. You say you think Jones “will be a good safety to develop.” What do you base that on?

by David Fucillo on Oct 8, 2011 6:35 PM PDT reply actions

Ummm...

Taylor Mays was considered a freakish athlete too and that didn’t help him. Great speed can help in special teams but that doesn’t make him a great option at safety. The team drafted him almost entirely for special teams. Anything else is a bonus.

Ur right but....

U made a great point but u never know what a player is capable of until they get their chance…(i.e. Tom Brady). I think Taylor Mays was thrown in the fire when he was not remotely close to being ready, thanks Mike Singletary. Unlike Mays I hope Colin Jones is groomed slowly and not rushed like Mays was. I saw some of his TCU footage and i really think he could be a good player with time. I also think Mays could be also. But back to my original thoughts…. Madieu Williams has to go.

"Grooming" Colin Jones?

He’s a special teamer w/great speed. We took him late, no $ risk involved, we’ll see what happens… He’s not being ‘groomed’.

I have many leather-bound books.

Huh , what do you base ( He’s not being ‘groomed’.) on ...

… Collin … hey coach whats the plan for today at practice … Coach .. Collin you run sprints until we practice Special teams , do not look at the safety position until your sprints are done …!!

I'm your " Huckelberry "...it's just my game ...Jimmy Raye your no daisy ...!!

by Edggy on Oct 9, 2011 7:27 AM PDT up reply actions

Yeah, they lock him in a closet like Adam Jones...

…until it’s time to go cover a kickoff.

;-D

Unless I’m mistaken, Colin Jones gets ZERO reps at Safety (other than reps playing on the Scout team).

Young players you are ‘grooming’ get Reps during Team.

He could develop like any player could, but it’s not because they drafted him thinking “Hey, this guy will be our FS down the road”.

I have many leather-bound books.

Football practices arent all Offense vs Defense

And running plays. He probably doesnt get many reps when they go into the off vs def. But at practice you also do individual drills. Where the linebackers are with the other linebackers working and the WRs with other wideouts working on things. So safeties also have this. How can you say hes not being groomed. Theres only what like 4 or 5 safeties on the team. Hes getting alot of coaching during practice. They may not look at him as the future but you have to prepare all 53 players on the team to play a position you never know whose going to get hurt and that person needs to get into the game.

madieu williams isn't a starter

He’s not great but he’s not horrible. It’d be kinda dumb to get rid of depth.

Umm

Madieu Williams in no way shape or form should be getting playing time. Reggie Williams although at times inconsistent is a better safety in my opinion. I even like Spillman over Madieu. Jus my thoughts. But we got two good safeties in 38 and 31

Williams is like 3rd string

he only started because Goldson and Smith were injured

Um, what the heck?

Are you trolling or do you honestly stand by what you said in this post? Because Madieu Williams has actually been playing pretty solid ball (made a huge hit in one game, was a little gun shy after getting flagged so “whiffed” on one against Philly, otherwise has been quite solid).

Colin Jones has speed and that is it. He isn’t even good on special teams. Safety have to be mobile and have at least basic change of direction skills. Colin has NO change of direction skills. Just look at all the kickoff coverages he whiffed on because he couldn’t change direction enough to even get a hand on the guy. Remember where he went in the draft and what the coaches have said about him. There is a reason he was on the practice squad and not the 53 man roster.

You sir, pardon my saying so, have been sitting out the sun too long. If you are going to create a fanpost making such bold (and quite possibly ridiculous) statements, at least do yourself a favor and give us some analysis to back up what you said.

“Curtis Painter is better than Tom Brady! He just needs a chance to develop!” See? I can do it too!

do you understand what depth is?

you need to have players who can step in when your starters are injured or fatigued. He’s done well in that role. No one expects him to start and you can’t expect your backups to be pro bowl caliber

I didn't like the Williams signing at first.

But he’s done pretty well filling in.

I actually love Medieu Williams. He’s what you look for in a backup safety. He’s smart, veteran, and knows his role on the team. He’s not gonna make any Polamalu plays, but he’s also not going to drastically mess up.

Sometimes the best backup isn’t a guy you hope will supplant the starter. Sometimes it’s a guy who knows how to be a back up.

Delanie Walker

This guy is a turnover machine and I’m tired of watching his talent wasted in fumbles, dropped balls, broken routes leading to picks, etc. He’s lucky the play against the Eagles was a forward pass by about 2 inches. Go job trying to turn it over twice on the same play.

One thing I thought about this morning

Was how sweet it would be if we could get J Finley next year to be in Walker’s role. Imagine a TE Corps of Davis, Finley and Byham and what Harbs and Roman coud do with that. Just dreaming out loud, I’d be delirious if we could get Arian Foster and Finley in FA next year and resign Edwards, Rogers and Whitner. Imagine having Arian Foster and Kendall Hunter in the backfield with a young stud like Bruce at FB and Byham playing as a FB/TE/H-Back mix.

Maybe since we're winning games...

we should just stick with the roster that the coaches selected. When we have a full off-season to work with, then they can figure out who fits and who doesn’t. At this point, the only person that sounds like he’s in danger of not sticking the whole year is Dixon.
