I've been feeling appreciative of Nolan and Singletary the past few weeks. They drafted and acquired (Justin Smith) well, but just couldn't put together a winner. Harbaugh comes in, works with Alex Smith, develops plays that suit his talent, tweaks a few positions, and it's like a miracle. Think about it, Nolan and Singletary:
Drafted all of the 1st string offensive line except Goodwin, and all our tight ends except Peelle.
Drafted and developed all current linebackers except Constanzo and Gooden.
Drafted or acquired all of the defensive line
Drafted Frank Gore same draft as Alex Smith
Now both of them are watching their team totally turned around, Singletary back to coaching linebackers in Minnesota, Nolan a coordinator with one of the worst teams in football. Maybe it was just Jimmy Raye that screwed us up; Singletary being loyal to another black coach and arrogant in not opening himself to the importance of game planning on offense. He thought it was simply about relationships, mentorship, discipline....WRONG.
I think Harbaugh came to SF because he realized the potential that lie fallow. Smart of him and smart of kid York and his men to go after JH aggressively.
