Ask Revenge of the Birds
Hey guys, Joe from Revenge of the Birds for this weeks "Ask _____" thread.
First off, I would like to say that even though we are division rivals and with how the games have gone over the last couple of years since the NFL tried to build up the rivalry our two teams don't like each other, but I can still respect what you guys have done this season. The 49ers handled the lockout better than any team in the NFL with coaching changes, all of the Camp Alex stuff seemed to work out fine, and I think your coaches have done a great job scheming the offense and defense to fit the strengths of your players and put everyone in a position to succeed.
Please drop by our blog ans make one of these posts too.
Now on to some basic stuff.
There is a QB controversy between the fans, Kevin Kolb has been average in the games he played, he does have a 1-6 record but the Cardinals also lost a couple of close games where they had a lead in the fourth quarter (Giants, Skins, Seahawks, Ravens) and although he needs to do better in crunch time the defense deserves blame as well. I put a lot of his issues on learning a new system, and Kurt Warner did say on the radio today that the offense Whiz runs is something that takes a full year to learn. I still believe in Kolb, and I think he should keep starting if he is healthy so he can get more experience in the offense and so we can see what we have in him. I do like Skelton though, and if he plays and wins on Sunday he will probably have to become the starter.
With the two of them, I think Kolb is more accurate, but he doesn't have good pocket awareness yet and he needs to improve on that. Skelton is more inconsistent accuracy wise, but he is much better in the pocket and he seems to play better when it matters most. The extra year he has in this offense helps too.
I know you guys were mad when we drafted Patrick Peterson (Aldon Smith has looked very good for you guys though after most people thought he was a reach), and we are very happy with him so far. Gets better on defense every week and he is a dynamic punt returner. Overall the rookie class has been solid this year, would probably look better if Ryan William's didn't suffer a season ending injury in the preseason.
Beanie Wells is having a good season, but his performance over the last couple of weeks has been slowed down by a knee injury that has made him less explosive. He can still bowl people over though and he has been great at scoring touchdowns from the goal line.
The defense is coming off of two outstanding games in a row. Did not let the Rams score a Touchdown, and completely shut down the Eagles offense in a game that they had to win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. After a lot of the "experts" said we have one of the worst pass defenses in the league, it was nice to see that.
The player to watch is Daryl Washington. He is in his second year, and he has been the replacement for Dansby. He has probably been our best and most consistent player on Defense, and he is one of the fastest linebackers in the entire NFL.

The Card's are actaully legitimately considering benching the man they traded away a #1 cb and 2nd round draft pick to get? Then fed a big, fat contract too?
I can’t wrap my mind around this…probably because the east-coast media hasn’t really given this story alot of coverage, but wow lol

Whiz said that there is no controversy right now, and everyone with the team is saying that Kolb is the guy when healthy
Skelton also said that he still thinks the job belongs to Kolb.
The controversy is mostly with the fans right now, I think our expectations were too high coming into the season with him learning an offense that is vastly different from the WCO and hardly having any time to learn it.

I know my expectations were unrealistically high
I was expecting him to play like an immediate Playoff contender.
But he has time, and he’ll get better.

Just like Alex Smith sucks too hard to feed Vernon Davis the ball?
(My above comment is sarcasm)
Fitz saw much more bracket coverage with Kolb as most teams respected his ability to pass the ball. Skelton see’s a lot more man coverage’s. Watch the Eagles/Cards game in the fourth quarter, I don’t think I’ve seen that much 1on1 coverage on Fitz since 2007.

Had one game blown by a fumble by Chansi Stuckey. Two leads blown by the defense. The record is making him look worse than he is. Too soon to tell imo. Skelton’s play must be making him nervous though.

Why do you assume I'm judging him on his record?
He wasn’t very good last year either and his stats this year are very similar. I said before he was even traded he was going to disappoint wherever he ended up, especially because the asking price was going to be too high…
I’m not surprised in the least. Now I wouldn’t say he’s done and has no chance. He could still improve, he’s only 27 and really doesn’t have that much experience, but he isn’t the sure-fire quick fix QB he was touted as last year.
exactly
he was hyped up to be a sure fire fix to immediately rectify an offense. He never should have been, especially with how little game experience he has. I have faith he’ll be better next year

A slim shot
He went to 3 SBs in his 12 seasons, winning 2 of them. 2 NFL AP MVPs, 1 SB MVP, 9-4 Playoff record, 3 good seasons, 3 great seasons.
The downside is that he started his career late, first NFL game at 27. All the injuries kept him out of games too, hurting the longtime stats, yardage, tds etc…Every season when he was healthy, He was a top3 QB, arguably the best. Did he do enough to get in the HOF? I don’t know, but I think I would vote him in. If the object is to have the BEST players in the Hall then I would say Warner qualifies. If you want a qualifier, asking that they have a certain amount of wins, or tds, then I think he doesn’t make it.
I think he should
dude could ball

- Thank you SF Giants for an incredible 2010 season and painting the City orange & black!

Ahh yeah sorry
I read that wrong on Pro football reference.com.
In his 3 super bowls, he has thrown for 71/116, 1156 yards,6/4 td/int. 2 of those 4 int were pick 6’s, which certainly didn’t help his team’s chances.
In his 13 playoff games, he has a 28-14 td/int, 3952 yards..an average of 304, 2.15 tds, and 1.08 int.
It looks to me like the offense was doing it’s part in winning those super bowls and those playoff games….the defense on the other hand was getting torched pretty regularly.
In both of the superbowls he lost, he had them in position to win the game too
Against the Patriots, the game was tied and would have gone to overtime if they did not let Brady drive down the field.
And against the Steelers, he gave them the lead with a little over two minutes left
The defense almost choked away the Titans game too, very lucky that Dyson was tackled one yard short.

The Cardinals haven't been losing their games by a lot of points
When you watch the games do you feel like the Cardinals are competitive but just fall short at the end, or are they being dominated and just not getting blown out?
Also, After beating the Eagles last weekend do the Fans of the Cardinals think the Cards can do it again here in San Francisco? We have let a couple less talented teams than the Cardinals stay close all the way up to the end.
Also is this wanting Kolb to be successful possibly at least partially denial because of what it cost to get him? Or do the Cardinal fans still believe he might turn into something “next year.” We have waited a lot of years for our quarterback to come around, so I’m sure most niner fans can empathize with you guys.

The Dallas Cowboys are the NFL's greatest underachievers.
Besides the loss to the Vikings, we have been competive in every game this year
Although the loss to the Steelers was worse than it looks on the scoreboard.
I’m not expecting a win, I think it would be more likely to happen if the game was in Arizona but most of us are looking at next week as a tough game and not a likely win. The Philly game does make things more optimistic now though.
Kolb has shown some potential, its not like he has been bad at all, more around the inconsistent/average range.. Like I said, a lot of his problems are from inexperience and a lack of time in the system. Most of us think he will improve a lot after a full offseason in this offense. There are some people who just want to play Skelton and throw Kolb into a pit of flaming spikes though. The Skelton love on RotB and some other Cardinals sites reminds me of the rabid Tebow fans in Denver.

You should get a look at some of the comments we still get to this day about Alex
It can go either way too, either too much love, or too much hate.
Go to any post about Alex and say “Alex Smith couldn’t hit a sleeping elephant from 20 yards” and you will get more love than you could ever want.
Or if you post something like Alex Smith is elite. You get the same and opposite reaction.
Once I posted a comment that Alex was “mediocre” after one of his unimpressive performances, and I got the angry mob treatment for days. I think some of these guys just won’t even talk to me anymore over that one.
Personally I don’t think it’s a big deal. Quarterbacks are at the mercy of the defense most the time. If your offensive line gives whoever you put back there the kind of time Brady or Rodgers has to make plays, you’re going to get a lot of yards through the air.

the reason people don't talk to you
is fear that your big brother, Fat Willie, will come and pick on us. There isn’t that many extreme comments on Smith, just the thread wars are about it. A comment saying they see good improvement doesn’t get as many replies as “Alice haz small hands” or “Alex is da greatest”
I'm not the one picking on anyone
Except maybe James, but he’s really asking for it.
I’m the one being picked on. Like when Drew called me fat.
A pie can be divided into many pieces. For MOST people the goal is to get as many pieces of that pie as possible. It is my goal to eat the WHOLE pie.
From what I've seen, you're a fairly physical team and so I would expect you to have a chance against softer teams that may be more talented but not as "tough" aka the eagles
Now no offense…but when you play a a team that is more physical AND more talented like the 49ers you probably aren’t going to come out on top

Mix of bad FO decisions and loyalty issues
Whiz is over loyal to veteran players. We should have never signed Faneca or Porter, they both played below par. Porter should be retired with his level of play. The FO was too cheap to sign Bulger with DA and Leinart on the roster (understandable, except that Whiz wanted Bulger over DA). Would Bulger have been that much better? Yeah, DA was terribad.
This year, it has just been issues with a two rookie CB’s getting torched in crunch time and old pass rushers (Porter and Haggans) being completely ineffective. Our defense has shown a lot of improvement since than. I am very excited to see how we do against an incredibly efficient Niners team.

Leinart was a bum
If you watched any games last season you would know that Bulger would have been far superior. DA only had one pitch, fast ball. Be it a screen, a dump pass to his RB, or a deep fade. The man had no touch but he took “this shit serious.”

I like Whiz, I think he is a great coach despite what some Card fans might say. He has made some bad decisions though. He has built a pretty solid roster. Honestly we are not a 3-6 team, 5-4 is what we should be which is more respectable.

He can be the backup
Or he can be the starter. Either way we’re short 2 guards. Draft one and let them fight it out in training camp.
I think he's a much longer term development guy
But both of them needed lots of technique work and both were about 20 to 25 pounds shy of being able to play guard in a power run scheme. App State and Montana State aren’t exactly community colleges, but they are a long way off from professional strength programs.
I suspect that Person wasn’t selected to develop into a guard, but rather a center.

This reminds me a little bit about the Aubrey Huff – Brandon Belt scenario, when the team wanted the guy they were overpaying out there and the fans disagreed, but it seems much less clear-cut to me. In that scenario, it was obvious that Belt was better than Huff, in this one, not so much. What do you guys think?

I've never understood playing the underachiever
You would think teams dealing with such large amounts of money would have some process in place to prevent themselves from committing basic sunk cost fallacies.
Sunk Cost...
I don’t think that Kolb fits the sunk cost fallacies. We haven’t seen how good he can play due to not having a training camp or time to learn the offense this year.
That’s kind of like buying a movie and throwing it in the trash because you didn’t like the first 5 minutes. You have to find out what you have before you consider it a sunk cost and move on.
by Superfizzogotflow on Nov 15, 2011 2:52 PM PST up reply actions
Well that is fair
I would only consider it a sunk cost if Skelton is truly proving to be better. If that is the case there is no way I start a lesser QB just because of the price I paid for him. If he isn’t, then give Kolb more time.
Dangerous to trade with Reid for a QB.
He knows too much about that position. I think he traded Kolb for a reason (other than Vick).
So if he was just a late round draft pick or a FA signing this brought in this season?
I would probably go with Skelton then, because you don’t really have anything invested in Kolb. With what we did, it is like drafting a guy in the first round. You have to give him a chance to play in the offense and develop, and I don’t think that seven games is enough for that.

How is Whiz’s job security? Is he good for one more year or does he need some wins?
The Kolb trade, national consensus is the Cards gave up a lot but do the fans feel that way? Personally, I felt the Cardinals gave up a 2nd round pick and a very overrated CB with a family history of career peaks at age 23.
Any other young players emerging besides Daryl Washington?
Cardinal fans are infinity better than Seahawk fans although they throw the same jabs towards 49ers fans. BTW, your team can keep on playing their worst games against the 49ers, I have no problem with that.
Coach Whiz has a free pass this year
Because of the lockout, but if we have the same record next year at around this time, changes will be made for sure.
The fans are heavily split. Half of us like Kolb and think he should get more time, the other half are ready to start Skelton immediately. I personally like Skelton, but think we should give Kolb more time.
Patrick Peterson has been huge. Considering the little amount of time he had to work with the team, and how he was thrown into the starting job after our other CB, Greg Toler, went down with an injury, he’s been great. Our other LB’ers, Sam Acho and O’Brien Schofield, have stepped up huge. And Beanie Wells has had his break-through season (If you consider him young).
Most Cardinals fans hate the Cowboys (Old divisional days, I guess), and we all hate any team that receives bias from the East Coast media. Screw the East Coast Bias…

Three questions
At which point do you believe the season turned for the worse? My guess would be the come-from-ahead loss at Washington, or the blown home loss to New York. Change either of those and the team likely plays with a bit more confidence and perhaps a few games go differently.
What are your realistic expectations going forward this season? Looking at your schedule, I think the Cards finish 6-10 (including another home win over Dallas).
One last one: how much criticism did Skelton receive for his two safeties in the Rams game?

A combination of the Cruz play against the Giants and the complete collapse against the Vikings

Started off very strong this season
Slowed down a bit because of his injury. Also has lost some production from Anthony Sherman’s absence. Beanie did well injured against the Ravens with Sherman in (I think around 84 yards?), but with Sherman out against the rams, and limited against the Eagles, Beanie didn’t do as well. Like Joe said, he's good when he's healthy
But he’s been getting injured a lot. That has to do with the fact that our other RB, Ryan Williams, went down with a season-ending injury in the Preseason. I’m sure that when Williams is back, Beanie Wells will split time with him, because right now, he’s getting like 90% of the carries.

Seems like your pass rush went from non-existant to helpful since he started playing.

Haggans has been adequate, but not a pass rushing OLB. Sam Acho and O’Brien Schofield have been very good, especially considering how young they are. Very talented pass rushers

Your two tackles apparently can’t block anyone.

What is your impression of Peterson? Was he worth the #5 pick?
I know one could argue Cardinals would be 1-8 right now if not for two of his three punt returns, but return highlights is not usually what one would expect from a first round pick.
and I know you said you were happy with him, just wanted to know if you still thought he was worth the #5 pick.
Yes
My favorite choice was Von Miller going into the draft, and it looks like he will develop into an elite linebacker for Denver although he should be in a 3-4 defense.
Peterson looks like he will develop into a great cornerback though, he has improved a lot over the season.

Absolutely
The only time they show CB play on television is on a pick 6 or an offensive touchdown. Especially considering that we’re the cardinals too. Peterson has progressed very well and is now our best pass defender.
I maintain that Peterson was the best player in the draft, and i was ecstatic when he was selected. I still am ecstatic that he is a Cardinal

Aha
Well one of the reasons we ask is because as of last week he was leading the league in Pass Interference penalties and was allowing something like 70-74% of passes thrown his way to be completed.
Most of us here are also ecstatic that he is a Cardinal.
I think he's good
I wouldn’t trade him for Aldon Smith, especially since we already have a PR/KR, but he has a chance to be dominant in special teams and I think his coverage will get there eventually.

The waste of talent upsets me
He could be a legitimately great safety — but by stupidity or stubbornness they’ll keep him at corner where he doesn’t have the agility to prevent separation and is no longer allowed to commit assault and battery on a WR like he did at the NCAA level. They have him in zone much of the time to try to compensate but he’s always been a sucker for any of the 7 combos and in this league you have to play those deep to short or your safeties end up hating your guts.
He's an athletic freak but you're probably right about not having the "hips" to be a shut-down corner at this level

Only game I watched a decent amount of but
Your secondary was getting worked by Anquan Boldin and Co…there weren’t too many questionable ones there. To be fair, he’s a big dude going up against a rookie and some younger guys, but I can’t speak to other games really.
I don’t know about Nnamdi this year, he is unimpressive, but yes Revis just assaults people constantly and gets away with it. I’ve said this before, but the entire league would be better off if all DBs were allowed to play more like that. Of course the NFL wouldn’t want anything like defense getting in the way of touchdowns.
A.J. Jefferson was the one getting smoked by Boldin in that game
Completely agreed on the more physical play. The Ty Law rule and some of the other recent changes just ruined everything and defensive players are handcuffed too much now.

I am almost positive the guy will turn into a top tier corner.
He can run with guys like Lloyd down the field and can be physical with bigger receivers as well. He is so fast and so strong in the same package it’s almost freak level.
All of his natural athletic ability aside, he is a strong player with a great work ethic that believes he will be one of the best. He’s got attitude and you have to have that to be a great defender in this league. I’m excited to see him progress.

I was a little concerned with Peterson at first.
But the last few weeks he has been following the other team’s #1 WR around and doing a hell of a job. As a PR, he has the potential to be one of the best ever in the game. A few questionable PI calls, but overall I’d say he was worth the pick. He is someone we can build our defense around for years to come.

I haven't seen too many niners games so i can't comment on that
But i have watched a lot of Packers games. Rodgers is by far the best QB in the NFL, and its tough for any team to be competitive against that kind of consistent production. Rodgers will go to any of his receivers, so you can’t shut them down through one of those players. It seems like you have to score every single drive. That being said, the have a very high risk/ high reward defense. They can be run on, so if you take care of the ball, and Gore plays like Gore, you have a chance.
Follow me on Twitter at @AlexDavidson68
With how Rodgers is playing like it is a game of Madden on rookie mode
No I do not. The game will turn into a shootout and I don’t know if Alex will be able to keep up with him. I need to see more of him taking over games by himself to show that he can do it consistently. With Rodgers, every one of his receivers seems to make insane catches even on balls that are off target, and the Packers always seem to have calls from the refs go their way too.
When I watch Rodgers play, the teams that normally seem to slow him down are the good Cover 2 defenses that can get consistent pressure with 3 or 4 people, so if the 49ers can follow that formula like they have done for most of this season they have a decent shot at it though.
Knocking him out with a concussion like the Lions did last year would help too.

our defense will not allow a shootout
the second we try to speed the game up to compete in a shoot out we lost. We would slow the game down, run the ball, high percentage passes even if the defense somehow played God awful. That is our game.
Interesting
I hadn’t even looked into what defense slows Rodgers down. It seems whenever man coverage is called he takes off running. It does seem teams with good coverage personnel slow him down, for example Philly last year.
I haven't looked into it either
Just what my eyes tell me from the games I have seen. Although I have seen a few NFC North games with the Packers playing against another NFC North team and the Vikings/Bears run a lot of Cover 2 so that might be part of it.

I’m not sure Smith would be better than Rodgers is in GB, but let’s face it, he was going into a situation most guys only dream about. He’s got great receivers and he’s had the same system forever, plus he was able to learn from an all time great near the end of his career (or so we thought). For sure, though, is that Rogers would be worse here than Smith has been – I think Rogers would be out of the league if he’d had to deal with all the s**t that Smith’s been through.

He dialed up the heat when the 49ers were leading 27-13 against the Giants
Two minutes later Eli made the score 27-20. Simply need to pick there spots on the blitz cause it does not suite them.

Was running a safety blitz from dime coverage and blitzing our ball hawk and leaving our cover liability responsible for over the top help.

Random Qs
1. If the Cards go 5-11 or 6-10, does Whiz get fired? If not this year, then after another losing season in 2012? In my option, Whiz needs to give up playcalling or he’s going to get fired soon.
2. How’s Adrian Wilson doing? Thought he was going to be out with a torn bicep, but he’s toughing through it and seems to be making plays.
3. Is PP really that good of a CB? Yeah he can return kicks, but he seems to get beaten regularly. What kind of coverage is he usually in?
4. What do you think of ex-Card LB Dansby proclaiming he’s the best LB in football? I have a tough time putting him top 5 and I’m sure who you can guess we think is #1.
I think Whiz is safe this year, but he HAS to win next season
Wilson has played really well the last couple of weeks, he has been dropping interceptions though (at least 3 of them), he also had one taken away by an iffy defensive holding call on Richard Marshall. He also laid a hit on Maclin that knocked him out for part of the game.
I don’t always notice the coverage, but Peterson hasn’t been beaten for a big play for a couple of weeks. Most of the completions he has given up lately were shorter passes, and he has been right on his guy most of the time in coverage. His issue right now is just using his hands too much and the NFL gets butthurt about anything that hinders offenses now so he gets flagged for it.
I think Daryl Washington is already better than Dansby, and D-Wash is only in his second season.

Not so random answers
I think if we go 4-12 then whiz should be seriously considered to be let go. Anything other than that and we give him time to grow. I think he finally made a good fire for DC in horton, whether by accident or not. Our offensive playcalling has been horrible many times under him and it’s pretty uninspiring even at this point. The surprise plays and gutsy calls I used to love him for are all but nonexistent that past couple of years.
2. Wilson is a stud. Not as fast of a stud but still a stud.
3. Yes he is good see above.
4. He’s really, really good….NOT. We think we already have a worthy successor for him in D-Wash. And yeah, I agree with you on the best right now.

2. A-Dub had a rough start to the year. He can always lay the lumber, but he was getting burned on pass defense. Hasn’t been as noticeable the past couple weeks, maybe he’s picking up the new defensive system?
3. PP is our best coverage guy right now. early in the season he was getting beat, and there was some media buzz around that. He’s been good the past few weeks, no big plays given up. He’s been on the wrong end of some (questionable) penalties too. He’ll learn how to play around the rules as he gets more experience.

Washington is that good ehh?
The player to watch is Daryl Washington. He is in his second year, and he has been the replacement for Dansby.
How did you guys manage to find a replacement for THE BEST linebacker in the league?

DWash has been a beast this season
His speed is incredible. He is never going to be a thumper though and so will always struggle against power backs, but outside of that he can do everything you can ask of an LB. He terrorized Vick last week, has had many TFL’s, several PD’s, few sucks, a pick or two, plus he leads the team in solo tackles by a large margin. Him and Calais Campbell have been outstanding these past few games. Right now Campbell is playing at an elite level, comparable to Justin Smith who is having a beast of a season and is probably the best 3-4 DE in the league right now.

How fast are we talking?
Patrick Willis ran a 4.37 and Navorro Bowman ran a 4.70 on his Pro Day, but there were reports of Bowman beating Patrick Willis in a race. So how fast is DWash compared to our LB’s?

They say anywhere from a 4.4 to a 4.6. He looks like a low 4.4 at 250lbs.
Willis definitely had that kind of speed out of college, but he doesn’t look as fast as he use to from the games I’ve seen.
Still, Willis is probably the best 3-4 ILB in football right now. There isn’t anything he can’t do.

Maslow's theory of higher needs does not apply to Patrick Willis. He only has two needs: tackling people and finding people to tackle.

The only guy I can think of who might be more dominant at his position
is Aaron Rodgers, and while I think that Rodgers is more valuable because QBs are more valuable than ILBs, I think that Willis is further separated from any other LB than Rodgers is from any other QB.

Lechler is about even with Lee.
Willis, Rodgers, and Smith are far and away better than the #2 at their positions. Calvin Johnson is probably the next closest at another position.

Willis Speed
I think I know what your talking about, often his first step isn’t as explosive. I’ve taken it as a read-react change in his game now that he’s in coverage quite often.
1 play this last weekend showed he’s absolutly a beast was when Eli tried to get out and Willis came from the other side of the line to drop him for a 2ish yrd gain. Willis was up inside before exploding out the side to get him. Really seemed he was showing pressure, but was assigned more of a shadowing role.
Yeah I saw that play too and was very impressed by Willis's reaction time
and chase down speed. He has not lost a step, just his role has changed calling for different things. It also helps that he has Bowman now taking his old role so he can roam around.
That was an amazing play
He pretty much came out of nowhere to prevent a first down. They still converted there but that play was huge.

TCU probably had the fastest defense hisfinal year there.

Hooray I get to ask my favorite question again!
Who is the best player on the Cardinals that I don’t know?
Have you heard of Early Doucet, Anthony Sherman, or David Carter?
those would be my guesses of good players you may not have heard of, and probably in that order
Follow me on Twitter at @AlexDavidson68
Doucet yes
Just because of his LSU days. The other two, no.
by InTimmyWeTrust on Nov 16, 2011 11:57 AM PST up reply actions
Sherman is our 5th round rookie FB(Whiz has always drafted very well in the 5th round)
he’s been very good, when he’s in Beanie has had his good games. He was out against the Rams when Beanie only got 20 yards on 10 carries, and was limited against the Eagles when Beanie got 60ish yards. Beanie has been slowed by his injury but Sherman’s impact has shown up.
David Carter is a 6th round rookie DT out of UCLA. He has played very well in a rotation with Dan Williams (our 2nd year 1st round DT). Great value for a 6th round pick, and could even become the starter next year.

Cool
We’ve got our own late-round FB gem, Bruce Miller (7th rounder) out of UCF. Converted DE who’s been improving each week.

I think you guys should rest him for the week. No need to risk injury you know.

Hurt his knee against the Steelers
Has been trying to fight through it, looked good against the Ravens but he hasn’t been able to get it going against the Rams and Eagles.

Beanie's been limited in practice for a while now
so the reports from practice can be a bit deceiving. I follow Beanie, along with all the Cardinals reporters on twitter, and all have reported that last week was the best Beanies knee has been in abut a month. Should be even better come Sunday. Barring a setback in practice this week, i would expect him to be at around 85% and starting

Besides a couple of runs where he lost five or so yards trying to bounce it outside, he ran well too
Doesn’t look as explosive as he was earlier in the season, but he is running hard on every play.

he played the ravens game and rams game in much worse condition
so if he was healthy enough for those games, he should be healthy enough to go for this Sunday. Obviously it comes down to a coaching decision, but we don’t have very good options besides Beanie. Beanie is our run offense, and his presence has forced teams to stack the box and open up the passing game for Skelton.
This season is very important for Beanie. with Williams coming back next season, Beanie has to show his toughness against injuries now, and shake off his reputation for being injury prone.
Follow me on Twitter at @AlexDavidson68
9ers won't have to stack the box
it may seem like it is though.

Either way, Beanie is key to our offensive production, and if he is able to play, he will be out there

so in that case
what does he like to eat because I heard there is food poisoning going around.
The Niners need to win this game. Do you know how much the media will bash us the first time the Niners lose? The only way the Niners come out of this season with some success is if we go 18-1 and even then it will be “oh they just caught on fire at the right time”.

That's a little bit extreme don't you think?
I think most football fans are expecting the 49ers to lose concentration and a game or two at some point. I haven’t heard anyone predict that we’ll win out the season. If we lose two in a row that would be a different story.

who cares what the media says
you’ll be 8-2, the team already defeated one of the toughest teams in the league, and it’s got the division on lock with a home field advantage. What exactly will they say that can discredit all of that.

odds of him getting a rushing TD are pretty low
as are the odds of him getting over 100 yards, in fact, odds are low that he’ll even get over 70 yards this week. I would bench him.
you're better of benching him....
