The San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals released their Week 14 inactive lists, and as expected, Patrick Willis will not suit up for the game. He strained his hamstring in the first quarter last week against the Rams and the team is taking their time getting him ready. He was out on the field trying to get loose, but it did not happen.
Willis did not participate in practice all week, so this deactivation is not surprising. It will be interesting, however, to see what his status is through the coming week. He was reportedly diagnosed with a grade two hamstring strain with a recovery time estimated anywhere from a week to six weeks. The key is whether he can at least get some limited reps in practice this week. Even if he does not, the 49ers should be in no rush to get him back before the playoffs.
Also, Brett Swain is inactive as Braylon Edwards is back in the lineup after resting his knee for a week. It will be interesting to see how the 49ers utilize Edwards today.
49ers: Patrick Willis, Scott Tolzien, Moran Norris, Daniel Kilgore, Mike Person, Ian Williams, Brett Swain
Cardinals: Richard Bartel, Chansi Stuckey, Stephen Williams, Kerry Rhodes, Joey Porter, D'Anthony Batiste and Jaymar Johnson.
