Can someone tell me why

Tarrell Brown plays over Shawntae Spencer? Spencer is decent.. Brown is god awful in coverage and I cringe every time the ball is thrown his way. I haven't even seen Spencer in ST or anything. Someone throw me an explanation...

Did you watch this team last year?

Spencer had one good fluke of a season in 2009. Pretty sure the coaches know better than you, so Brown is on the field.

I remember someone on here saying

that they knew someone who knew Shawntae, or they knew someone who knew someone who knew Shawntae, or something like that…anyway, they said he’s lost his love for the game and doesn’t put in the effort to earn any playing time. Basically he’s sitting around as an emergency backup until the end of the year, at which point I’m sure he’ll be replaced and his career will be over, unless that guy on the internet who’s username I can’t remember was lying.

Gore did end his holdout

So I guess that adds to his credibility?

Well, it would make sense

But that would be very unfortunate.

Spencer was a very good CB when he played at his highest level.

I can tell you why

Because Brown is better than Spencer. Spencer was terrible last year after having a good ‘09. Injuries pushed Spencer down the depth chart in the offseason and he hasn’t been able to get back up. Brown is doing pretty good this year, not great, but good.

I really don’t get all the hate for him.

Any other year

He would fit in well. But its so clearly obvious he is the weak spot of the defense and thats why the hate comes. Everyone seems to be playing an a boarderline probowl level except him.

The entire secondary has made mistakes at times....

Let’s not forget that we have lost 3 games by a combined 15 points. The defense is not the problem. And some of the plays that Brown has given up, he was supposed to have help over the top that wasn’t there.

No doubt theres been mistakes

But theres no denying that Brown is the weakest of the defense. Whitner Goldson and Rogers have all been great.

Goldson is back to 09 form

And by that, I mean he’s back to getting lucky when he’s overly aggressive.
He still can’t tackle properly and he always goes for the big play instead of being smart (see: Fitzgerald’s long reception that led to the go-ahead TD last week).
