EDWARDS RELEASED
BRAYLON EDWARDS RELEASED
I was released today by the 49ers due to my injury that required more time to rehab and hasn’t allowed me to re-sync with the offense....
Sorry to see him go... was not expecting this. The WR corps is pretty thin now. With Vernon dropping balls and Walker and Kyle injured, Crabtree is really going to have to step it up against the Rams. Jason Hill anyone???

I think this sucks
But I don’t think Braylon had any impact on this team this year. I would guess a corresponding roster move is coming with Ginn and Williams banged up. Best of luck Braylon…

Somehow, this was both inevitable and surprising
Edwards wasn’t doing anything for us, actually hurting us on the field, but still, given Williams’ injury, this leaves us with only 3 WR and 2 TE on the active roster. I guess this means we’re likely to see either Joe Hastings or Joe Matthews, or both (especially if Ginn is limited), and potentially Konrad Reuland as well.

I sure hope Kyle is healthy
Assuming KW is good to go, at least this will remove the temptation to give someone else reps he deserves.
Would they release Braylon if KW was not healthy…maybe if the reason is ONLY related to Braylon’s health.
They released Braylon because of his performance (impacted by injuries)
not because of his current health.
You do have to look at what releasing Braylon means about the rest of the team though
If they didn’t think KW would be healthy going into the playoffs, the question is basically Braylon vs Joe Hastings/Matthews, and I think Braylon still wins that one.

Obviously Harbaalke disagrees
Unless they have plans at going at another FA WR like Ziegs, Hill, TO, Moss, etc.
You can't O/U that, but I'd say they don't do it
Why would they?

They know Kyle will be out for the Rams game
So they had to add a receiver. After the last game it was clear Edwards was not getting the job done. He had more penalties than catches. Who else do you release to free up a spot?
I was pretty excited about the signing when it happened
but Edwards has been a huge disappointment, I say good riddance.
Maslow's theory of higher needs does not apply to Patrick Willis. He only has two needs: tackling people and finding people to tackle.
