Ben Roethlisberger Injury: So Begins The Wait

Fooch's Update: Roethlisberger reportedly has high ankle sprain. Normally that takes at least a couple weeks to recover, but not sure what it means moving forward given that he returned to the field.

The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Cleveland Browns tonight in a fairly hideous 14-3 game. The Browns looked awful at times and actually looked competent at times. The problem was that they could not take advantage when they got down near the end zone. It was kind of a weird defensive performance by the Steelers. They made some big plays but I don't really know how I would qualify the performance.

The big news of the day saw Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger leave at one point in the first half with an ankle injury. He needed help off the field and people immediately wondered about his availability for next week. In spite of the injury, Roethlisberger returned to the field in the third quarter. It was easy to see the kind of pain he was in as he was limping on handoffs and pretty much a statute statue on throws.

They have re-shown the injury and given that he continued playing, it was likely a fairly basic ankle sprain. They taped it up pretty thick and he made it through the second half. We'll have to keep an eye on the news moving forward. He likely had a decent amount of adrenaline to get through the pain. Tomorrow and the next few days will give us a better idea of what to expect from him heading into next week.
