As the offseason moves on we have more and more suggestions for quarterbacks the 49ers should pursue, or general discussion on Alex Smith. I'd like people to please use this thread for a majority of your QB discussion. If you want to put together a sizable write-up on an option that's fine. For example, we had a short Matt Flynn FanPost that for now would make a great comment here. Here's what the person said (a new user here, newlinepro):

The answer to there quarterback problems is with Matt Flynn. There are not to many prospects out there and Matt Flynn has had the opportunity to sit behind a talented quarterback for the past 2 years. I believe if the niners do what they can to get matt flynn he will end up doing very well. He has only had one good showing against new england, but he looked very poised. A lot more poised than Alex smith looks out there. Please god don't keep Alex smith!

To improve on this as a FanPost, my suggestion to newlinepro was that he could provide more detailed analysis on Flynn including things like a breakdown of his stats with the Packers, his scouting report coming out of college, and/or how the 49ers would acquire him since he's signed for one more year. A FanPost on a quarterback at this point needs to really dig deep on the player and go beyond, "We should sign this guy because he's talented" (with a few more sentences). That's not to say that suddenly makes your comments unworthy of posting. That's why we have this discussion thread.

I'd also like to point out that if somebody posts something like the FanPost I quoted above, that does not give people free reign to mock the person, especially when they're new to the site (if you click on a user's name you can learn more about when they joined the site). Make your point and move on.
