2011 NFL Pro Day Schedule: Andy Dalton On The Radar
Tre's Edit: Harbaugh is in attendance at TCU's pro-day today, per people on the scene. Seems there is some interest in Dalton, one would guess.
We continue our run through 2011 NFL Pro Days (schedule posted after the jump) with a couple big name schools, and also some interesting options to follow on Twitter. Today's schools include Eastern Illinois, Idaho, Jackson State, North Texas, Ohio State, Oregon State, Purdue, Southern Miss, TCU, and Tennessee.
One of the more pertinent names to pay particular attention to today would have to be TCU QB Andy Dalton. Whether he's high on anybody's radar or not, the quarterback position is the big ticket item for the 49ers in 2011. I don't know what kind of pick they'll invest in the position, but there will be a quarterback drafted by the 49ers this year.
Oregon State has a couple of intriguing guys in defensive tackle Stephen Paea and running back Jacquizz Rodgers. Brian Westbrook is seemingly out the door so the 49ers could use another running back to complement Anthony Dixon in the backup role. I don't know if Rodgers is that guy, but he's worth checking out today in his Pro Day performance.
On a related note, North Texas will conduct their Pro Day today. They don't have any major prospects, but I mention them because the agent of two of their players will be providing updates on their Pro Day performances during the day. The players are OLB Craig Robertson and and OG Esteban Santiago. Their agent, Cory Williams of Overtime Sports Management Group LLC, will be tweeting out updates. Whether the 49ers have any interest in either guy or not, it's an interesting way to get some publicity for clients that might be looking at undrafted free agent status.

Rodgers
Will really have to improve his 40 time to get drafted.
For reference, if the combine time is an accurate measure of his true speed.. he’s only 3/100ths of a second faster than Robert Quinn.
How small is 3/100ths of a second?
If both players are running at their full combine measured speed and Quinn is 5 yards ahead… they will run for over 600 yards before Rogers can close that gap to 1 yard.
I've yet to see an NFL game played on a track or in shorts and t-shirts
Based on 40 times, Jerry Rice couldn’t out run my grandma, in her walker.

Harbaugh...
is at Andy Dalton’s pro day!!! So there is definitely some interest from the 49ers.

Not sure about Kaepernick ?
Undeniable big arm, but it’s my understanding he’s probably more of a project than some of these other middle rounders. Maiocco repeating what others have said – he’ll require more coaching than some of the other options, including Dalton and Ponder – to make his particular mechanics work in a WCO. He was really impressive in the interviews I’ve seen him give – but again, I’m just repeating what I’ve heard/read multiple times.
I’m just glad Harbaugh is there – as others have said, it means he’s looking at post-1st round QBs, which I take to mean they might (I hope) take a CB or pass rusher in the 1st round…
Kaep is more raw... Which means he's more coachable.
Gimme 1 round!

Lets take a look at small school QBs
I think Blake Bolles and KJ Black will be productive NFL QBs if they can go to a team that has a good QBs coach. Same can be said for Mike Garrison, Scott Riddle, Rob Parent, Josh Powell, Josh Neiswander. Lets take a chance on one of those guys. They’ll work harder and just might surprise.
Definitely should take a look at the first two: Bolles and Black.

He could be there to check out Jeremy Kerley or Wayne Daniels.

Awesome.
Dalton or Ponder are the guys I’m most sold on, especially since they should be available in the 2nd or 3rd. Hopefully Harbaugh likes what he sees and can begin grooming his future franchise guy soon enough.
Andy Dalton!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sold if J.H. likes him.
accuracy is high on harbaughs list. Dalton does accuracy.
