2011 SB Nation Writers NFL Mock Draft Results - Updated Through Pick ELEVEN

FOOCH'S UPDATE: I'll have a 6am pacific post tomorrow (Wednesday) to discuss the pick I went with at number seven. Let's leave discussion in this stream related to all other picks. Can discuss 49ers pick in here, but most conversation will be in the other thread (link forthcoming when I wake up in the morning).

Fooch's Note: 49ers on the clock in the writer's mock draft. I submitted the pick several days ago, it will be posted in the morning I believe. Who would you select with this pick?

As has been the case for the last couple years, the folks at Mocking The Draft have organized a mock draft with selections made by the 32 SB Nation NFL writers. I'm posting this as a FanPost because the two round mock draft will be lasting for the next three weeks. I wanted to have a single space for people to discuss this in general. I'll have a separate post when the 49ers pick goes up, but in the meantime we can have discussion here. We also have Drew K's separate mock thread, but this current stream is just one slight detour from it.

1. Carolina Panthers - Blaine Gabbert, QB
2. Denver Broncos - Von Miller, OLB
3. Buffalo BIlls - Patrick Peterson, CB
4. Cincinnati Bengals - A.J. Green, WR
5. Arizona Cardinals - Cam Newton, QB
6. Cleveland Browns - Marcell Dareus, DT
7. San Francisco 49ers - Prince Amukamara, CB
8. Tennessee Titans - Nick Fairley, DT
9. Dallas Cowboys - Tyron Smith, OT
10. Washington Redskins - Robert Quinn, DE/OLB
11. Houston Texans - Julio Jones, WR

I won't be giving away the 49ers pick early, but rather will post updates on this the picks come in. The plan is to roll out three picks per day, so we'll be getting the 49ers pick up day after tomorrow. Looking at the top three picks here, Von Miller is a bit of a wildcard in these top picks. Mile High Report's John Bena justified the pick at MtD:

All that said, there are no trades in this mock draft, so I am left to make the pick myself. Marcell Dareus is a strong possibility here, but I feel the Broncos could address the DT position with one or both of their second-round picks. The draft is deep at DT, and the Broncos can take advantage of that. Patrick Peterson is an option as well, though I think the NFL rules changes on kickoffs may hurt his value a bit - at least in the short term.

For me, that left Von Miller. Linebacker is another huge position of need for the Broncos, and a position synonymous with Broncos football. I wanted the Broncos to get Rolando McClain in 2010, but the Raiders were able to grab him first. This year, the Broncos can get that impact linebacker and should take advantage of the opportunity. Miller would instantly inject athleticism onto a team that needs it, and with the Broncos going back to the 4-3 defense, they have need at the position. A group of D.J. Williams, Miller and Mario Haggan (or Wesley Woodyard) would be an upgrade - especially with Elvis Dumervil and Robert Ayers moving back to defensive end.

Trading was not allowed in this draft so it affected plans for several teams, including the 49ers. Some intriguing names dropped to seven but without the ability to trade I had to adjust my plans accordingly.
