Today is pretty big in the schedule of 2011 NFL Pro Days. As we continue on our road to the NFL Draft, today we have workouts at New Mexico State, North Carolina Central, Northern Iowa, South Carolina, Southern California, Texas A&M-Kingsville, and Washington. We've got some great talent from schools like South Carolina, USC, and Washington. The most pertinent player might be QB Jake Locker but we'll get into him in just a minute.
One interesting small school player to track today is New Mexico State cornerback Davon House. He's ranked 18th among cornerbacks, so he could very well end up as an undrafted free agent. At just over 6', he's got some size, but not a ton. I'd imagine that no matter what happens during the seven rounds of the draft, the 49ers will try to grab at least one cornerback in undrafted free agency.
Washington quarterback Jake Locker is the real main event today. ESPN3.com will be broadcasting his Pro Day today, which starts at 11am pacific. I won't be able to watch the Pro Day, so if you have a few free minutes check it out and let us know how Locker performs. His draft grade seems to range from mid first round to mid fourth round. All it takes is one person to fall for him and Locker could be snatched up in the first round. LIke a jury only needing on person to block a conviction, it only takes on pick to over-draft on Locker.
For the people who have been paying close attention to the shifting sands of draft preparation, what round do people think Locker will be drafted?
