There's been a lot of talk regarding the dream scenario for the draft and it's fun to daydream of course. Realistically however, dream scenarios are called such for a reason - they rarely come true. Having said that, what do you all think is the WORST 1st round scenario for the 49ers? You know what they say, hope for the best but prepare for the worst. What do you think we should do as a back up plan if the nightmare scenario plays out? I had a similar post regarding this in February ( http://www.ninersnation.com/2011/2/25/2015869/what-to-do-with-the-1st-round-pick )but now that we're closer to the draft and have what we think is a "clearer" picture, I wanted to get an updated idea of your collective thoughts.
My nightmare scenario:
1. CAR - Marcell Dareus
2. DEN - Patrick Peterson
3. BUF - Von Miller
4. CIN - AJ Green
5. ARI - Robert Quinn
6. CLE - Trades down w/ Dallas and picks up Amukamura
Backup plan:
7. SF - 1.) Trade down if possible, 2.) Nick Fairley 3.) DQ Bowers or 4.) reach for Cam Jordan?
(I don't think any of the draftable QBs are worthy of a #7.)
I'm also not sold on whether Fairley would fit in our system or not. If Franklin doesn't come back to us however, we're gonna need a DT big time and that's why I'm making the pick there. I know Da'Quan Bowers is best as a 4-3 DE but would he be a value pick here? Could we get him to work somewhere in the 3-4? I personally think his knee injury fears are overbown (assuming it's not a microfracture). Plenty of players have knee injuries recover from them.
