Golden Nuggets: 49ers Hall of Fame? I Dig It

I really like the edition of the DeBartolo hall of fame that the 49ers started, I think every franchise needs their own way to recognize outstanding contributors to the team and the overall organization. Now, I'm even more excited about the idea because the 49ers are allowing us to vote for one entrant this year. I'm not sure who I'm going to vote for out of the three candidates thus far, but it's pretty cool. On top of being pretty cool, it's also a source of links, and you know that plenty of links means a happy Ninjames. And you all know you like a happy Ninjames. Also, don't forget to sign up for LondonNiner's trivia contest. You should do that. Unless a lot of people do already, in which case, he doesn't want you to. Because you suck. Enjoy the linkage.

As stated, you can go vote for one of three finalists for the Edward J. DeBartolo Hall of Fame. I'm leaning toward voting for Roger Craig, but I also want to give George Seifert some love as well. I'll have to think about it. (49ers.com)

Maiocco isn't a fan of the NFL Network's Top 100, but he doesn't think Patrick Willis at twenty-three is entirely out of line. It really isn't, but the guy not cracking the top twenty is absurd. I like how Takeo Spikes was the guy to present Willis, considering how great Spikes has been in San Francisco. (CSNBayArea.com)

Sam Lam says that the 49ers need to ease Aldon Smith into his starting role in 2011, and I'm inclined to agree. I do think Smith will produce in year one, though. I think he will make the transition well, but before he's ever a complete linebacker, I expect some sack numbers. (Examiner.com)

I would love it if the Rams were the team to move to Los Angeles, I can't get enough of the SF-LA rivalry. That is to say, except for when it escalates into stupidity like we saw with the Bryan Stow incident. (SacBee.com)

That’s about the size of it! I need quite a few folks to make it worth doing – maybe 10 or a dozen – but if I got, say, 50, it might get a bit unwieldy and we’d have to do it across a few rounds, just like the Tournament of Badness. But at the moment, literally two people have expressed an interest – Mr Instigator and McWagner. At this point, it’s just between those two, and I won’t lie to you, McWagner sometimes doesn’t know where he actually lives, so I don’t hold out much hope of him winning.

Look – here’s the thing. If you want to take part in a fun quiz about the 49ers and if you can spare maybe an hour at your desk tomorrow lunchtime, then add a comment HERE telling me that you’d like to take part. Then all you need to do is show up at 1pm Pacific time tomorrow (Wednesday) on Niners Nation and I’ll do the rest. It will be fun and it won’t last for much more than one hour, if at all.

Winner gets a virtual trophy which I’ll send them a pic of – they can parade it around virtually, use it as their avatar, mention it in their sig, and stuff.

Manraj said he’d take part but then he remembered he was eight and he thinks the first ever coach of the 49ers was Dennis Erickson and that we’ve never won a Super Bowl.

No Rams

I live here in LA and I do not want a rival of the 49ers to move here. It is bad enough dealing with Dodger fans and the Raider fans that are still down here. I couldn’t stand it if the Rams fans returned. Besides, when the Rams won in 1999, Georgia claimed that was proof they made the right decision to leave LA in 1995. I know she no longer owns the team, but I hope the current owners feel the same way.

Rams need to stay in St Louis

That way I have the option to see the 49ers play at least once a year without having to travel across the country. St Louis is only 5 hours from where I live. I know it’s selfish but I have needs too, ya know.
