NN NFL Tournament of Badness: The Brady Rule and Joe Buck

Two one seeds have made it into the final eight, how will today's go? We've got "The Brady Rule" back in action, and so far its crushed any competition in its way. That's going against the underrated Joe Buck. I say "underrated" in a sense of badness, as I underestimated just how terrible people feel like he is. Well I'm glad people are passionate about it, which means today's matchup might be a good one! Yesterday, we had a very close one and at the time of writing this, it's about even so it's anybody's game!

So make the jump to read the descriptions of the participants for today, read full results from the opening round of the bracket, view the entire bracket. But first: remember, we are voting on what we believe to be the absolute worst thing of the two. If you're voting in a worst food contest, and you like pizza more than hamburgers, you would then vote for hamburgers in that matchup. Get it? Got it? Good. Make the jump.

Star-divide

(1) The Brady Rule

The game becoming safer in some aspects is not at all a bad thing, but as we've seen with the new kickoff rule that advanced past that insufferable dancing robot, some things are too much. Each season, some new rule comes out protecting quarterbacks so they never get hurt. For years, quarterbacks got hurt and put on injured reserve, but it wasn't until Tom Brady of the New England Patriots took a knee injury (a freak knee injury, at that) and was out for the season that the league decided to start pampering quarterbacks. Brady got hurt, that hurt viewership and all of that, so the league decided that "all" quarterbacks needed to be protected. So they implemented some new rules to protect "all" quarterbacks, but unfortunately they only seem to be implemented around the bigger names, for the most part. That might be a little unfair, but defensive players get penalized just for taking the same field as your Bradys, your Mannings and your Brees...es... It's bad, they're calling roughing far too often and fining people left and right. Just terrible. Awful. Terrible awfulness. Awful terribleness.

(13) Joe Buck

So, I typed in Joe Buck's name into Google just to get some examples of how awful he is, and this was one of the first images that showed on the first page. Anyway .. moving on from that. Joe Buck is a terrible commentator, to start. He has no skills during a game, in talking about players or what's actually happening on the field. Outside of that, the guy hates everything and everybody. He's got this air of jealousy about him that you can feel at all times, save for when he's calling a game, in which case he's usually half -asleep and unable to actually function on a jealous level. Look, I don't need to explain this anymore. The guy is turrible.

Joe Buck is not that bad

Stupid rules like the Brady Rule and Tuck Rule (also a Brady rule, in a way) are way dumber.

And, I am going to keep posting this pic as long as it is in the tournament.

As much as I can't stand Joe Buck

And his tendency to make amazing plays sound like a fullback dive for a 1 yard gain.

Gotta go with the Brady rule.

Lifelong Arizona Cardinals/Phoenix Suns/Chicago Bears fan [I have always lived in Arizona, dad is from Chicago].

Hate Joe Buck, but...

The Brady Rule is slightly worse. Hmm. I thought Joe Buck would be in the finals against Favre or the Cowboys, but upon further reflection, I stick the Brady Rule in there. My bracket’s busted anyway.

Regrets not picking the car over Debbie.

I also hate Joe Buck

But I hate the Brady Rule. I hate how a guy like Brady can’t be touched while the Alex Smith’s and Vince Young’s in the NFL can get completely destroyed and nobody says anything unless it was by Harrison. I also hate how just a few years earlier Palmer was injuried in a playoff game in a similar way and the NFL didn’t do anything about it.
