Nnamdi Asomugha & Michael Crabtree Bringing Harbaugh-calyptic Pandemonium

Stay connected for news and updates

Just as I was getting ready to kick back for the evening, all hell broke loose as it was announced that Michael Crabtree would miss most if not all of the preseason with a foot injury. He was placed on the Physically Unable To Perform (PUP) List, which adds a certain degrees of seriousness to the injury. This is a carry over from the Camp Alex injury, and one has to wonder if it's somehow related to the pre-NFL Combine injury his draft year. As I said in the comments before, foot injuries are very tricky so we'll see how it plays out.

This all comes as the 49ers continue their pursuit of mega-free agent Nnamdi Asomugha. I suffered a brief cardiac event when a guy who goes by @incarceratedbob in NYC posted breaking news that Nnamdi had agreed to terms with the Jets. I was fairly skeptical but did mention it in a tweet while waiting for better confirmation. I'm still skeptical although this link does leave me a little hesitant. John Clayton has since gone on Sportscenter and said no deal is done but the Jets, 49ers, and now Bucs and "others" remain in the hunt for the former Raiders corner. Warren Sapp has shot down the Bucs in this, so who knows what is truth.

I don't think anything will ever approach the level of chatter here during the time leading up to Jim Harbaugh getting hired. I think part of that was because things were so low for the 49ers that Harbaugh was viewed (and still is viewed) as a savior. This isn't quite at that level, but it's as close as we may come to the Harbaugh-calypse. Let's hope we don't all go crazy between now and then.

For now, this will remain our video of choice:
