Daunte Culpepper news has quieted down today following his workout on Monday at 49ers headquarters. Jason LaCanfora tweeted that a deal wasn't done and it was possible it would not be done this week. While we wait for word on Culpepper rolling into San Francisco, offensive coordinator Greg Roman was asked about whether the 49ers would consider carrying two quarterbacks this season.
On whether he would consider carrying two quarterbacks:
"[QB] Colin [Kaepernick] is doing a great job. One of the things you look for in a quarterback is the ability to manage those little situations that you can't really coach, teach and define. He's done a great job. Some guys have those instincts and he's shown to have those instincts. He's getting better every day. Makes some mistakes and then puts them behind him, and that's the key. It's hard to tell how that's all going to unfold, we'll just have to wait and see."
Roman didn't really answer the question other than "we'll just have to wait and see." It's hard to tell what the 49ers plans are beyond Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick. I keep thinking through this whole scenario and it's really quite bizarre. I try and assign some level of logic and deduction to the situation and I can't figure it out entirely. I'd like to think this Saturday will clarify the situation a bit, but with our luck it'll just get more scrambled.
