My comment got lost in the threads, chewed up, and spitten out because there is so much going on these days. I'm posting it here to see what you guys think. I'll throw in my thoughts after the jump.
I go home to Jersey from Baltimore on a few Sundays during the season every year. When the 49ers aren’t playing at the same time as the G Men I get to watch a decent amount of their games. I’ve always liked what I have seen from Steve Smith as wide receiver. He has great hands and always comes up with some clutch catches during third downs and two minute drills. Smith also runs some really clean and precise routes as well.
He is only two season removed from his 107 catches for 1,220 yards. I really think the only reason that you saw a drop in his numbers last year was the fact that Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham emerged. He didn’t get targeted nearly as much as he should have in most situations. I would not be dissapointed at all if the Niners took a shot at signing him. He should come cheaper then Edwards/ Floyd and has proven himself as a viable target.
Thoughts?
