Harbaugh Has A Way With Words

Stay connected for news and updates

In past years the 49ers coaching staff has done a better job of pushing players away because of terrible communication. Take last year’s indecent with Michael Lewis. The team decided early into the season that they would demote Michael Lewis, a solid 49er Saftey, and promote Taylor Mays who we all know is likely to be traded in the coming weeks. The 49ers did not communicate with Lewis on the fact that he was being demoted so he quit the team. This is just one of many instances where the 49ers coaching staff and front office pushed players away. However, with Jim Harbaugh at the helm, it seems like the thing that brings players to play for the 49ers is Jim Harbaugh and his winning attitude.

For example

Former Buffalo Bills saftey Donte Whitner was just about to except a deal with the Cincinnati Bengals when Harbaugh called up Whitner and convinced him to come to the 49ers instead “It was a change of heart. I thought I was going to be a Cincinnati Bengal, but Coach (Harbaugh) called me and told me that they have a young secondary here and he’d like me to come help lead this secondary. I weighed my options, Cincinnati or San Francisco, and I felt like San Francisco was the better choice – better football team, better chance to win.”

Harbaugh was also the reason why Braylon Edwards came to the 49ers. “I’ve known Coach Harbaugh pretty much my whole life. He and my father played together so I thought that was another plus.” Jonathan Goodwin said in an interview that he felt like he was rookie again and that he had a really good vibe about the 49ers organization.

Jim Harbaugh has not coached a game yet but he sure is off to a great start with the 49ers organization.
