2012 NFL Draft Prep: College Football Week Two, Part Two
Like last week, I will share with you my thoughts on some players who I think may fit the bill with the 49ers. While Drew went with a few players who are better known, I wanted to go the opposite direction with a few under-the-radar players.
Alameda Ta'amu, NT, Washington
Ta'amu is a beast, measuring in at 337 lbs, and 6'3. While he isn't a sack machine, he is a run stuffer as a nose tackle should be. His stat line from this past weekend included 2 tackles, and a sack.
Ta'amu would make a great addition to the 49ers defensive line. I can only imagine a line that included Ta'amu, Justin Smith and Ray McDonald. As of now I see Ta'amu as a early first round pick. While I want to see Sopoaga work out, this is a nice backup plan in case.
Marvin McNutt, WR, Iowa
McNutt is a nice sized wide receiver at 6'4 and 215 lbs. He has been a productive receiver with a career best junior season in 2010. During the season he racked up 861 receiving yards and and eight TDs. If the 49ers indeed look to a receiver, McNutt is a nice option for later in the draft.
I see McNutt going in the third round range. He would be a nice addition to a potential core of Braylon Edwards and Michael Crabtree.
Chris Owusu, WR, Stanford
Owusu had a terrific game against Duke this past weekend, finishing with 106 yards receiving and a touchdown. Thus far he has proven to be QB Andrew Luck's favorite wide receiver target. At 6'2 and 200 lbs, I really like Owusu. Although he has some decent size, he strikes me as more of a speedy looking wide receiver.
Owusu is another later round pick, who could see his stock rise with a great season. If he continues on this pace, don't be surprised to hear his name called earlier than expected.
Check back next week for more. And I will be looking at a new contract in the next few days. So stay tuned for that as well.

Owusu's problem is that he is injury prone
It would be also interesting to cover some of the early-round defensive backs flying under the radar since Niners are certainly going to draft one in the first three rounds in the next draft.
On a related note, it is interesting but not surprising that both David Shaw at Stanford and Harbaugh are revealing as little of their offensive bag as possible in wins over weaker teams.
McNutt
Thanks for giving him some love! That kid has great hands and is really good with YAC. He’s not the fastest receiver out there but he is definitely a playmaker. He’s on tap to break the all time career touchdown record for the Hawkeyes this season. I think he only needs about 4 more. When he was recruited for Iowa, he was a high school QB and they converted him to WR. He can be used in one of those screen pass plays where the receiver passes it downfield. Iowa actually did that with him against Iowa State last week but it didn’t work out.

There are honestly so many under the radar WRs in the Big-Ten
too bad it’s a running conference because these WRs are starving for recognition.
Back on board. Now time to trade Mays for Clausen
You want speed & a sure handed wr to boot........TY Hilton of Florida Atlantic
Yes he’s from a small college & he’s only 5’10 183lbs but, this guy is electric & “plays big” for his size. Also a very dangerous return guy.

Alameda and Geathers (Georgia)
Are going to be impressive NT’s in the NFL… if they both play that. They’d be even more dominant as DT’s.
