NFL QB Free Agents: Anybody On The 49ers Radar?
Now that the biggest wave of roster cuts is complete, various players are hitting the market, some via the waiver wire and some via free agency. The 49ers currently sit with two quarterbacks on their roster in Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick. When 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh discussed the current 53-man roster yesterday, he seemed to indicate the team would add a third quarterback in some form or fashion, whether it be on the practice squad or on the 53-man roster.
I went over to NFL.com/transactions and went through all the roster cuts this month. After the jump I've posted the 27 quarterbacks available following yesterday's cuts. They're listed in alphabetical order and do not include the quarterbacks released in August. This list also does not include players out of the NFL heading into training camp, such as Jeff Garcia and Daunte Culpepper. If you think I'm missing anybody of significance, let me know in the comments.
The most frequently discussed name on this list is Scott Tolzien. It will be interesting to see if he clears waivers. Maiocco has tweeted about guys like Kellen Clemens and Dan Orlovsky. Other than that, it's a mix of rookies and veterans, none of whom exactly wows anybody. Anybody jump out to you?

I think we need a veteran
Kaep is already our project, we don’t need two. Trent Edwards might be a good target.
OK, I think I see Harbaugh working here
Harbaugh said they would add a third QB on the roster or Practice squad, but we just released 2 QBs: either of which would have been fine as 3rd QB. I really doubt Jim is too concerned about who the third-stringer is. This move only makes sense if: they just needed to get the roster number down to 53 or: they don’t feel Kaep can be backup to Smith and they need to get someone better than McCown or mcBLT to fill that role. If it was just to get the roster down to 53, then they should re-sign McCown or McBLT to the practice squad (if either are still available) or roster after they make room. If they don’t do that, then I think we will see another QB brought in for the backup spot.
They did a Mister McBLT is our future ...!!
I'm your " Huckelberry "...it's just my game ...Jimmy Raye your no daisy ...!!
Hunter Cantwell and Pat Devlin are the only QBs who I'd want on that list.
Back on board. Now time to trade Mays for Clausen
Too late , McBLT it is ...!!

Cool
He looked composed and sharp against us on Thursday. Any info on how he did during the other preseason games?
