Please Help. First Game
Been a long time since I posted a fan post and I hope to do this right. Maybe this should be a fan shot. Sorry if this is in the wrong area. After one of the craziest most awesome seasons of 49er football I can remember, I have finally bit the bullet and bought myself plane tickets to SF from Albuquerque NM and tickets to the saints game this weekend. Both my mother and myself will be going and its going to be our first 49er game. The mom was the reason I became a 49er fan so its only fitting that we are going to our first game together. The hotel I am staying in is right near Pier 39? not sure where that is but Im told its right by some beautiful areas to check out after the game. Since I am a N00B to the area and well seeing the 49ers play I have Questions for those of you in the Niners nation that have been to games at "The Stick" or plan on going this weekend.
Considering location of my hotel whats going to be my best transport to the game? Not opposed to spending money. Its my first 49er game and I spent $500 ea per ticket so im not holding any expense back. Just bring that up because I want people to know I am not looking for hte cheapest route but rather the most effective.
Also, Any tailgaters doing anything before the game? I want to get a little tailgate on and celebrate our first playoff appearance in 8 years with some good natured and die hard 49er fans. Im a small drinker and will bring a six pack that I am likely to share.
Lastly, whats the weather like? I want to wear shorts to the game to show off my 49er Tattoos but dont want to freeze my @$$ off in doing so. The weather forecast is projecting low 60's which is short weather here in New Mexico but not sure if humidity changes that. I rarely get a chance to show them off too much except to torment Cowboys fans here which is all good and fun... but showing off to fellow 49er fans would be a treat :)
Thanks for any and all opinions/advice. Very much appreciated. Im SO STOKED for this game. #BEATthesaintsThis is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Niners Nation's writers or editors.

Weather: I’d probably wear pants as it can get breezy. You might be able to get by with shorts, but when the sun goes down it can get chilly.
Transportation: The MUNI T Third Line is effective. You can catch a variety of buses to the stadium, but I’m a fan of that one for getting to Candlestick. It’s easier than driving.

Shorts at Candlestick
It has been a long time since I have attended a 49er’s post season game…the last time was 1997 NFC Championship which we lost to the Cheeseheads. I was fortunate enough to attend 2 NFC championships and 1 divisional playoff game in 1995 all three games were ‘gratis’ since my friend got me in as ‘help’ for the half time show. It was a great expierence since we were allowed on the field up till half time. Sorry I digress…if you want to wear shorts, go ahead some of the best weather at Candlestick is in January but be smart take a pair of sweats in case it gets cold don’t be a sap !
GO 49er’s we will play a dirge for the Saint’s after the game!
Other transportation options
SF Muni has Express service for $12 r/t per person. The closest one to you is the 77x starting at California and VanNess but returning to VanNess and North Point after the game. I don’t recommend getting on at any stop but the first one, unless you like standing the whole way. There’s always room at the beginning. After the game, if a bus looks full, you can wait 1-5 minutes for the next one. Drop off and pick up right in front of the B gates. Web site: http://www.sfmta.com/cms/mroutes/3comsvc.htm
If money is second to convenience, try http://49erexperience.com/ which has game day service from 2590 Mason Street for a mere $30per person, but it’s within spitting distance from where you’re staying. Looks like a few seats left and it would be the easiest. I would call them as their web sites sucks. Or you might call the hotel you’re staying at and ask if they have any pre-arranged transportation.
Have you thought of those convertible pants that hikers use? Start off with shorts and if you get too cold, zip on the legs. There’s a very hardy soul I see at the games who almost always wears shorts, so it can be done.

Welcome to the Bay!!!!
Its gonna be a beautiful weekend considering its the middle of January. Its gonna be chilly but if you decide to wear shorts i think you will be ok…low 60’s during the game and the City dosent get cold like the east bay so probably low 50’s to high 40’s at night.
Just to warn you the Muni drops you off on 3rd Street which is still about a 1 mile hike threw a not so great neighborhood to get to the stadium. The bus is ok and will drop you off right infront of the stadium but the lines after the game is ridiculous.
Tailgating… if you find yourself in the North Parking lot before the game (gates open early at 8:30am) go to Pole R or follow the signs to Faithful City. All is welcome if your rocking Niner gear…

Pier 39
make sure to go to Boudins sourdough. I recommend the clam chowder bowl. San Fran is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to

will do!
My boss has family in San Fran and he told me to find somewhere with a clam chowder in a bread bowl and chow down. This Boudins sounds perfect.

I second that rec for Boudins clam chowder in a sourdough bowl
I’m also partial to boat rides, which is a great way to view San Francisco. And they happen to leave right between Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf, if you have any extra time.
haha i get that alot
I do body suspension (photo) which is the suspending part and my name is Brandon J.. just my initials…..

Way to bring the Mom...
Have fun enjoy the ame and more importantly, enjoy the Bay. Go Niners!
Oh and if you’re staying near Pier 38, you right in the heart of tourist land. If you get a chance, I would try to venture around:
1) the Presidio: great wooded area next to Golden Gate bridge
2) Sutro Baths: the weather calls for clear skies and you’ll have a great view of the Pacific
3) Mission: great food, bars, scenery, culture…everything you want from a city neighborhood
Again enjoy the trip out here!
