Is it the Defense, Is it the Offense, Is it the Special Teams? Maybe its something else altogether. I want to know and I know you want to tell everybody why you think the Niners are going win so here's your chance.

Offense

To kick off the comments I’ll go with the offense. I was really surprised at how well the 49ers offense played at home this season. And given that the Saints defense is significantly worse on the road without the help of crowd noise I think that the 49ers will be able to control the clock with enough long drives to score enough points to win.

If the Niners are to beat the Saints, it's got to be a 49er game.

The offense needs to be consistent, but it can’t just put up points. It needs to put up sustained drives. I’d say time of possession is probably the most important stat in this case: control the clock and limit the Saints’ possessions. The fewer total drives there are, the less opportunity there is for the Saints to make a big play. Limiting their touches also helps emphasize the advantage the Niners have in their ability to gameplan for the Saints for two weeks rather than one.

The Saints are a team that won’t be able to put up points consistently every drive on the road against a defense like the Niners. What they can do is make big plays and have the speed and skill to score touchdowns from anywhere on the field, much more so than the Niners. A lot of this comes down to 3rd downs: if we get good playcalling and good execution on 3rd down situations, it will go a long way in frustrating the Saints “score quick” mentality. There may not be a team in the league that can beat the Saints in a classic QB duel, but I do think the Niners can win a game with scoring into the 30s if they control the TOP.

Second to last option should have been All of the Above!

yeah but..

I wanted to make people choose. If I would have put an all of the above answer then it would have gotten the majority of the votes and really wouldnt tell us anything about how people are feeling about this game.

I guess I could add an all of the above the…49ers are going to blow them out. option to the poll if you think that would enhance the voting experience.

see your point

then I would have wanted the 49er are going to blow them out option. I think we’ll win with a double digit point margin. (ie 10+ points).

Has to be a combination

The defense cannot do it without the offense, and vice versa. Keep pressure up th middle to stunt Brees’ effectiveness. Also keep him between the hash marks. He can hurt us rolling out, and looking downfield. We need so Fank the Tank. Hunter and Dixon too. Caint wait
