Where were you the last time the 49ers had a playoff game?
I was just talking with some friends about how long it has been since the 49ers were in the playoff game. And they asked me if I even cared or watched the game because I was so young at the time ( born in 1991). So I told them the story about it..
Yes I did care about the game. At the age of 11. I remember watching the 49ers v Giants game with my dad the week before ( Dads a huge Giants fan ) and it was one of the best games I had ever seen. Unfortunately with my dads Giants out of the playoffs he didnt care much for watching football the following week and me being 11 didnt have much say in it. So the family and I went skiing for the day. I remember being on the chair lift up. A family friend of ours was a ski patrol worker and he was riding up with me. I asked him what the score of the game was and he radioed down and told me the 49ers had been blown out by the Bucs and that I didnt miss much. Even though I was disapointed it was easy to brush off at the time. Because me, like many other Niners fans Im sure, thought that they would be back very soon.
Well 10 years later here I am. Still having that Giants game being the one and only Playoff game I had watched as a big Niner fan. Unlike all you of I have never seen the Superbowls, never seen the sucsess, never been able to talk about being a Niners fan without being made fun of. So finally the time has come and I finally get to watch our Niners play in a playoff game. And I couldnt be more excited. Its amazing how much changes in 10 years and to think about how long ago it was.
I personally cant wait for tomorrow. Its been a long time coming and Im so excited to see this team this year and know the future is only going to get better. GO NINERS!

I was 10 watching the game at home with a new friend who had just moved from new york, while my dad and uncle were at the game. he left when it was 38-14… smart move, but I let him have it at school come Monday. The next week I watched the niners lose to the Bucs and I cried, as that’s what diehard 10 year olds do when your team loses.
I was 10 I think
The comeback game vs the Giants is what made me a 49ers fan. I decided to cheer for them since the entire family on my mom’s side goes for the Giants (dad’s a KC fan) and I felt like being annoying.
I thought the comeback was awesome, and it made me a 49er fan on the spot…but I missed the Bucs game. Sucks.
Cannot wait until we play the Saints. Will be watching with my grandfather (huge Giants fan). Bit of a tradition. GO NINERS!
I only remember a few things from the Giants game.
TO’s first TD. The one where he broke tackles like the Giants were little kids and ran like 80 yards. I remember thinking how awesome he was.
I remember being pissed off. Yelling at the TV.
I remember when Strahan went scoreboard on TO. I still don’t like him.
I remember jumping up and down and screaming and loving Garcia.
I don’t remember anything about the Bucs game. Not much to remember I guess.
Joe, Jerry, Steve, and....Who is next?
I remember
when Garrison Hurst broke his ankle in Atlanta, I was very Sad.
I was 19 during the last time the Niners were in the playoffs
I remember the last 3 Super Bowls and was lucky enough to grow up during a time when the Niners were almost always great, so the winning and stuff isn’t new to me, but it has been a very long time and I forgot how truly exciting it is. It’s almost 4 a.m. here right now and I am wide awake like a kid on Christmas.

I was on a business trip but managed to catch it.
This time I was about 12" from the screen …….best game of any sport that I have watched in recent memory….still horse from screaming…..this will be talked about for years…..one for the Niners lore.

I was at Candlestick Park
screaming my head off. Would’ve given anything to have been there yesterday!
Fortunately for me, I've had the good fortune of being a niner nut since '80.
However, through that time there have been highs and lows. The last playoffs I was “in the field” (as we call it in the Army) for the Bucs game freezing my butt off, so I didn’t catch it fortunately. The Giants game I got to watch with some of my friends, some Giants fans, some just rooting for the Giants. I got a lot of ribbing about the “gay bay” and “fortywhiners”. All I had to say was look at the scoreboard and tell me who won – room had a lot of crickets as I remember. All in all its been a long time, and even IF the niners don’t win on Sunday, it definetly has brought back the old memories. Hopefully these feelings are here to stay for a long time again. Love it – GO NINERS!
