Congrats from CSC

Hey, y'all. Saints fan from Canal Street Chronicles here. Just wanted to say congratulations on the win and I hope you enjoy it thoroughly. Though I couldn't enjoy a single second of it, that was one of the best playoff games I've ever seen. I really thought after Graham's TD that the Saints had the win, but ... well, there's nothing I can think of to say. It hurts.

Good luck in the NFCCG, but first of all, enjoy this win. I'm sure it feels pretty awesome.

This

The Graham TD was heart-stopping; much as I like Alex, I can’t say I saw that ending coming.

Thanks for a gracious post, and though I know right now you are probably a bit down, take solace in the fact that the Saints are GOOD, and will be there in the postseason for years to come…

You are a "Gentleman and a Scholar" Jay thanks...

I think that quite a good number of Bay area fans were rooting for the Saints in their Superbowl win.

Glad that we have that possibility now.

P.S. Had my honeymoon in Nawlins….great memorys!

Me too

well, at least to beat the Vikings, my bro is a Vikings fan and it was extra sweet for them to not only beat his team, but knock Favre out too lol

by sanfranfanmdk on Jan 15, 2012 10:22 AM PST up reply actions

I rooted for them too

As hard as could be when the beat Favre, then more so when they beat Peyton. Was also happy to see a loyal fan base rewarded, and a region have their fandom extended to new converts.

You gotta bring ass to get ass.
We dat team that beat them Saints!

It does feel awesome, and if you don't mind my copying from my comment on your site...

That was an absolutely fantastic game, and you guys are a great team. I’ve always been a fan of Drew Brees and the Saints – not like the Niners, of course, but I like you guys. In the superdome, I think you guys could beat any other team in the league, and it took an absolutely superhuman effort to beat you guys even on our own turf. As well, I’ve seen nothing but class from Saints fans. Great game, and see you guys in the playoffs (and the regular season I believe) next year.

I'm just a simple Giants fan trying to make my way in the universe.

your a class act

Thank you sir. You are absolutely correct. One of the best playoff games in recent memory. This one could of went either way. To still be in the hunt after 5 turnovers speaks volumes of your team. See you in the super dome.

This is a game I will be able to tell my children about...

That is the single greatest 4th quarter I have ever watched, in any sport, in the 22 years I have been watching sports…

Congrats on a historic season, and we’ll see you again next year…

well done jay. as a saints fan is was heartbreaking. but the 49ers simply played a superb game. creating 5 turnovers was simply amazing, and the 49ers def was relentless. and alex smith played an amazing game when it counted.

best of luck 49er fans. savor this victory and best of luck next week.

congrats all around

Even in a loss, your squad proved that they are the best offense in the NFL, bar none. You boys at CSC have nothing to hang your head about. We’ll see you next year in the NFC championship game.

Saints

I don’t think i could be any more complimentary towards the Saints. I thought they had won the game at least two times.

Any time the Niners aren’t in the playoffs, I always cheer for Drew Brees/the Saints. I hope I never have to do so again even though they are a bunch of class players and a bunch of class fans.

Bewtween the fans of the Saints and the players on the Saint's I can't hate them as much as I want to.

So thank you for that, I just hate hating people. It’s hard work. I would hate you so much more if we lost today, so you are clearly a much better person than I am.

that was one of the best playoff games I’ve ever seen.

Even as a Saints fan here on the L side of the ball, I totally agree with you Jay. Still stings like hell this morning but will say, it was a fight out there between 2 great teams and battle of number 1 offense vs number 1 defense. Truly an epic game out there.

And I want to thank the 49ers fans for showing class as well. Fun blogging with you guys. Best of luck along the way. Your defense is stout as hell!

Class act.

Saints team and fans are classy. No cheap garbage or anything unprofessional on the field. I felt like the Niners were going to lose from the point it was 17-14 and could not enjoy much of the game, but it was exciting. I am glad we got to play in SF.

wouldn't go that far

We almost had to whoop them a few times. One of their guys was going crazy grabbing Jennings from behind and trying to shove/stomp him on the ground.

Thanks man. You guys are a class act as well. Your defense attacks the ball and hits hard. That’s what a defense is supposed to do. Both teams played their hearts out. You guys earned it.

The Saints fans at CSC were some of the more classier fans before and especially after the game than other fan bases. cough*Lions*cough

Appreciate the congrats

It’s easy to be magnanimous in victory but, had the Niners lost, the truth would still be that the Saints were one helluva opponent. Your team didn’t quit when they were getting beat early in a raucous stadium, your QB is as accurate as can be, and the coaching adjustment of your DC helped slow the Niners offense in the 2Q.

These two teams, though opposite in many ways (and ways that would have fans on both sides touting their way as best even if team strengths were flipped) were near equal. Home field likely was the deciding factor as I could see a heartbreaking loss in the Superdome had locations been different.

We’ll see you guys in the Dome sometime next season.

Congrats 9ers fans. Watched that Giants game, will be tough but I think y'all will beat them

Manning is good but I think the 9er rush gets to him and he throws a few picks. Y’all will win the turnover battle which, bleeep! was our undoing and I think 9ers grind it out on offense. Smith was doing well with those quick passes. I thought we had him rattled pretty good with the pressure and I thought we had y’all too after we took the lead at 24-23 but kudos to him for stepping up—my drunk self had some 80’s flashbacks (some music from 89) of 9er teams back then sigh. Good luck against the Giants.
