49ers Vs. Giants, NFC Championship Game: Tarell Brown, Patrick Willis Sit On Thursday
The San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants each released their latest injury reports and there were some modest changes for the 49ers. The 49ers sat Tarell Brown, Patrick Willis, Jonathan Goodwin and Ted Ginn Jr. today, while Dashon Goldson improved from DNP to limited participation. Brown is dealing with a thigh issue and Willis has a knee issue. Both practiced yesterday.
Sam Lam did not believe either new injury to be serious. Neither was on the report yesterday and it is possible both were just precautionary sits today. Of the various injuries, Ted Ginn seems to be the longest shot to play on Sunday. He injured his knee on Saturday, returned to the game and then had to leave again as he could not do enough on it.
I would suspect Kyle Williams will be back deep handling punt return duties. It will be interesting to see how that plays out, particularly in some potentially nasty conditions. If the weather is particularly bad, we could very well see a lot of fair catches on punts. The 49ers have done great in the field position battle in part because of solid returns, but for Sunday they may just look to benefit from big Andy Lee punts.
On the Giants side of things, Eli Manning was a full participant a day after being limited by illness. Ahmad Bradshaw sat out again with his foot injury. I would imagine any out status would be determined on Sunday in pre-game warmups.
49ers Practice Participation Report
Did Not Participate: WR Ted Ginn Jr. (knee), C Jonathan Goodwin (calf), LB Patrick Willis (knee), CB Tarell Brown (thigh)
Limited Participation: TE Delanie Walker (jaw), S Dashon Goldson (ankle)
Giants Practice Participation Report
Did Not Participate: RB Ahmad Bradshaw (foot)
Limited Participation: LB Mark Herzlich (ankle), DE Justin Tuck (shoulder), DE Osi Umenyiora (ankle, knee), CB Corey Webster (hamstring)
Full Participation: QB Eli Manning (illness)

Not having Ginn on Sunday would really hurt.
He is such a weapon in the return game. He is always one or two blocks from taking it to the house. Let’s hope for a quick turn around on his health before Sunday.

Hopefully they are ok
I believe willis’s injury may be lingering It seems to be effecting his play. If willis is not a 100% they should let grant play he seemed pretty solid in coverage.

No really good place to post this...Skip Bayless is a fricken idiot.
He’s on the East Coast moving ESPN running his mouth that Alex is just going to through the ball up for grabs 3 or 4 times because he can’t handle the pressure. He also said he has never faced a team lime the Giants….I really hate Skip. I mean really your name is Skip. John Clayton may look out of place as a football analyst, but storage his name isn’t Skip.

Skip has always and always will be a moron

Say what?

The NFL has named Seattle’s Michael Robinson to the Pro Bowl as an injury replacement for Green Bay fullback John Kuhn. Robinson played an important role in Lynch’s 1,200-yard season. He also remained a key player on special teams.

"Just your typical Giants scoring rally: A faceburger on the basepaths, two errors from the second baseman and a bases-loaded balk."
Ridiculous.
You could say the exact same thing about Miller and add that he’s a good pass catcher as well.
When do we find out if DW can go? I imagine they are planning to have him out there.
At this time of year, everyone is banged up. It would suck if Ginn can’t go but Kyle is a suitable replacement. We would miss him as an extra WR and deep threat, but if DW was back that would be huge for us.
Most likely a game time decision.
I can see Harbaugh not giving much insight on the complete status of Walkers progress.

Ginn and Williams
Ginn is a more explosive returner than Williams, but Williams is more sure-handed, particularly in windy conditions. Possibly also in wet conditions. He just is so relaxed and confident and has great hands. Ginn has not fumbled this year, as I recall, but he is not quite as sure-handed as Williams IMO.Maybe for this week it’s actually better to have Williams receiving punts, especially if Ginn is not a full 100%. Just a thought.
Why in heck
did Bruce Miller not make the team over Robinson? It’s not like any 49ers are going to be playing in the Pro Bowl, but that is just plain dumb!!
Yes, I just did Twitter. Follow me for ultra intelligent insight.

league felt bad Seattle didn't have any players on pro bowl so gave them a pity vote..lol
"You have to reinvent yourself each year, ... What helped us was that there was some turnover each year." Bill Walsh...
don't they have to send @ least 1 player
from each team?? Because back in the day, that was us too…not 1 of our guys were voted to the pro bowl and then some1 did represent our 9ers…

FYI
Bradshaw will be fine on Sunday, he’s always sat a day or two during the week to rest his ankles, since his last surgery. so it’s precautionary, and part of his usual routine.
Yes, I am a Giants fan. Now that we got that out of the way....
