Disappointing? Nay
When we came into the season what did we expect...? Well this is what some of us expected : 3rd place in the NFC west with a record around 6-10. Did that happen? No, not at all. The Niners became legit superbowl contenders with a 13-3 record.
When we came into the post-season most analyst were saying something like this "The niners played in a weak division, they are one and done." What did the team say to that? Well they responded with beating the saints with TC3 and that beautiful run play for a TD.
Did Bill Walsh win a Superbowl in his first year? No, it took him 3 years, with the first two being horrific season. It takes time even for the greatest head coach to ever live.
If you want to play the blame game and blame Crabtree and Williams, if it weren't for them we may not even BE in the championship game.
So what that we lost. We shut up those columnist and got to the championship game. We showed the world what we are capable of, what the Niners can do. This was only Harbaugh's 1st year and we have had significant turnaround. He taught the team to believe and helped us believe in the team, in Alex Smith. We can probably expect so much more next year and the years following.

By no means
We discovered a lot this season. Alex Smith will continue towards becoming ELITE. We have most of the pieces in place to go for a few years. We will only get better. Next season we will have Josh Morgan back. Who knows what the off-season will bring. My only wish is for us to bring everyone back.Make th necessry signings, nd improve through through the draft/FA. Maybe we will even have a QB controversy this summer. Much to look forward to.
Disappointing? Ya
But of course the result was a let down. But not the season. Not even close. What a great run! If we did not change a single thing- no trades, no draft- we would still be a better team next year without having to learn new systems during the season. A healthy Morgan wouldn’t hurt. But you know that changes will be made. Can you imagine how good this team will be with a full training camp, after COMPLETELY MASTERING the playbook, and after bringing in more talent! So, yes, the lose was disappointing, but the season was great and I can’t wait for next years run.
