I apologize for not playing super homer and not picking the Niners to win it all. If you are going to be offended by that, I am sorry and you should stop reading right now. But here is my prediction for the entire playoffs. Please post your preds!
AFC is terrible. Every team has an obvious and exploitable flaw. You can argue that the Bengals are the most complete team in there, but they can't beat Pitts or Balt if their lives were on the line.
I really want to root for the Pats (especially since in the beginning of the season I made a small bet that they would make the super bowl). But I can't see them making it with that defense. It's...terrible.
Losing Mendenhall is terrible for the Steelers. They would have been my pick if Issac Redman wasn't their starting RB.
I guess the safe pick would be Baltimore. They can beat the Steelers and the Steelers can beat the Pats.
Steelers > Denver
Houston > Cinci
Steelers > NE
Balti > Houston
Balti > Steelers
NFC is going to be very very interesting. Saints played a very competitive game vs Green Bay in week 1. They both have not played SF. You really don't know how SF's D will match up against those 2 high power offenses. The Giants look great, but they did lose to all 3 of the previously mentioned teams. Lions and Falcons are both very very competitive teams. I just don't see them beating the Saints or the Giants on the road.
I am a Niners fan, and I have to admit that this is all kool-aid talk. But I feel strongly we can beat the Saints in Candlestick. Saints are amazing at home, but have looked very underwhelming on the road, squeaking by Carolina, Atlanta, Tennessee and losing to GB, TB and STL. Brees' QB rating falls 22 points on the road compared to home. Niners can win that game.
But here's where the kool-aid cup is left alone. When Niners fans argue that Lambeau is "better suited for the Niners team than the GB team". Complete BS. Yes, I think we can be competitive against GB in Lambeau, we can try to keep them around 24-28 points, but to say that SF has an advantage in the cold just because we're a possession and grind type of team? That's crazy balls.
NO > Detroit
NYG > ATL
GB > NYG
SF > NO
GB > SF
And the superbowl is GB > Baltimore. As much as I would LOVE to see Harbowl 2.
