A few things I noticed watching the Saints
The bad news is, the Saints passing game was clicking, and their run game was very effective against the Lions. However, they will be playing a top defense, and take away team in the 49ers. I seen the lions drop multiple interceptions. We will not. Also the fumble that got whislted dead, should have been 6 points for Detroit. Basically the Saints can be stopped.
I believe we will shut down any attempts in running the ball. They will not be able to produce on the ground against the 49ers. Also the 49ers MUST maintain discipline against the play action pass. The Saints use play action 80% it seems. Our secondary MUST not be over agressive in run support. That will be a key component in us slowing their passing attack.
The Lions run game was not existant. 7 carries for 29 yards. We have to get our 1,2 punch in Gore, and Hunter going. I even expect to see a few Anthony Dixon sightings in short yardage situations. I notice Dixon has been bringing it lately
Last but definitely not least, getting our front seven to put pressure on Drew Brees will be the difference between a win, and a loss. Also we must do some real game planning for TE Grahm. The mismatches he will pose on any LB we have. At 6'6" 250+ his athleticism can be a problem against anyone. Darren Sproles out of the backfield on swing passes, and check downs could prove to be deadly. We MUST assign a player to shadow him for the duration of the game. Maybe Navorro Bowman has the speed to stay with him sideline to sideline.
All in all I am preparedto see an epic game next week. As unbiased as possble I really think the 49ers defense, run game, and passing efficiency will provail. GO NINERS!

The Lions are basically the opposite of the 49ers
So it was hard for me to take anything from the game specifically.
I’m glad the Saints won, I wanted to see this match up. It’s important for how the 49ers approach the off-season either way.
Draft: 1. Kendall Wright 2. Trumaine Johnson
FA: Smith, Morgan, Brooks, Rogers, Snyder

Pressure Brees
If our basic pass ruch can’t get it done, rush 5 but mix up which 5. Whatever keeps them guessing and missing blocking assignments.
If Brees isn’t pressured the coverage will have to be perfect.
one thing I noticed about the Saints
they hold…..a lot.
Maslow's theory of higher needs does not apply to Patrick Willis. He only has two needs: tackling people and finding people to tackle.

Yeah, that’s the one thing the Lions have a legit gripe about. Saw a lot of choke holds from behind on the O-Line.
If they do, Harbaugh will be very vocal about it.
I think we’ll be fine.
"The Harbaughcolypse is upon us. No one in the NFL is safe"
I'd say Patrick Willis...
Is about the only linebacker I could see covering a guy like Graham. If anyone can do it, it would be P Willy.
Noticed the Saints going for it alot on 4th down
dont think that stuff’ll work against us
and our D WILL take up the offer of all those INTs that Detroit kept turning down
On the downside , I dont see us getting the holding calls on their line – really blatant on a few occasions – makes the horrible(NFL’s dream saints/packers championship game) conspiracy theory thoughts sneak into my brain….NURSE !!!!!
i chalked that up to playoff homefield advantage
hopefully we get it next week
side note:
this is where that 1st preseason game comes in handy
the line got to experience A LOT of their blitz packages
What happened with Legos, they used to be simple. Oh come on, I know you know what I’m talking about, Legos were simple. Something happened out here while I was inside. Harry Potter Legos, Star Wars Legos, complicated kits, tiny little blocks. I mean I’m not saying its bad I just wanna know what happened.
The O-Line
was simply playing the way the refs allowed. If the refs begin calling lots of holds, they would adjust. That’s what good teams do. I look forward to this game, but I believe the Saints will prevail.
Hmmm...
I probably shouldn’t come on this. ;-)

With Brees why believe? pass...
A pie can be divided into many pieces. For MOST people the goal is to get as many pieces of that pie as possible. It is my goal to eat the WHOLE pie.
They found a way to involve the ground game against the Lions
then they utized play action, which obviously only effctive if your ground game is a threat. Pierre Thomas, and Darren Sproles ran for mor than 100 yards key situation. They also ad a bunch of open WRs from useing play action.
