The 49ers released their latest injury report and we have some updates on several players. The big news has Brandon Jacobs as a full participant today. He injured his knee back during the preseason and has been sidelined ever since. He got some limited work in last week, but was inactive for a fourth straight game. As a full participant today, the odds would seem good that Jacobs will be active this Sunday.
Isaac Sopoaga returned to practice as well, albeit in a limited role. He was a DNP all last week and sat out Sunday's game against the Jets. This week, the 49ers host a Bills squad that throws a lot, but enjoys running the ball, too. It is hard to tell for certain what kind of mix we'll see in terms of nickel/dime vs. base defense, but I would not be surprised if the 49ers let Sopoaga sit one more week.
Carlos Rogers and NaVorro Bowman were both limited today, with Bowman wearing the black no contact jersey. He is listed as having a shoulder injury, so we'll see how that develops this week. I see no reason he doesn't play, but we'll have to wait and see for any certainty on it.
On the other side of things, the Bills are dealing with a few significant injuries. Safety Jairus Byrd sat out practice due to a hip pointer. Over at Buffalo Rumblings, they are reporting that Chan Gailey said Byrd likely will play this week. However, they Bills will likely be without LT Cordy Glenn and RG Kraig Urbik. Both did not participate in practice, and it sounds like they could be out "a while". That knocks out two big parts of that Bills offensive line, which certainly is a plus for the 49ers defense!
