It's time for Week 5 NFL picks against the spread where I am thankful I am not putting actual money down. I have now put up back-to-back horrific weeks thanks to my conservative nature. I pick some upsets but I have stuck with too many favorites, and it has burned me. A week after going 5-10-1 against the spread, I put up an awful 5-10 week. I was 10-5 straight-up, but obviously that's not where you win your money.

This week the 49ers head home to face the Buffalo Bills. The 49ers opened as eight point favorites, but that line has now spread to ten points. I would have been much more comfortable grabbing this at eight points, but I do think the 49ers can also cover that double-digit spread. Of course, I thought the 49ers would handle the Vikings and we saw how that turned out. The Vikings though are looking like a better team than anticipated.

Where this game gets interesting is the running back duo of Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller, and tight end Scott Chandler. The 49ers have been up and down against tight ends. They contained Brandon Pettigrew, but Kyle Rudolph and Jermichael Finley both impacted their respective games. If the Bills are going to hang in this one, I could see Chandler being a big part of that.

Below are my picks for this week. I mixed in some upsets, but there are a lot of games that seem pretty tough for the underdogs to cover. I know I'll get several of these wrong, but we'll see what the NFL has in store for us this weekend.
