49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh will meet with the media today at noon PT, and I'm sure we'll hear plenty of questions about the quarterback position. There are numerous ways for this situation to develop, so I wouldn't expect to get much in the way of concrete information today. Earlier today, Coach Harbaugh indicated he thought Alex Smith would be medically cleared to play at some point this week, but until that happens we simply wait.
