We break down the opening odds for the 49ers Week 10 matchup with the St. Louis Rams
Week 9 is just about wrapped up, with only Monday Night Football separating us from Week 10 and the return of the 49ers. The 49ers benefited from some losses in Week 9, but now they get a chance to take control of their own destiny once again (if you could actually control destiny!).
The 49ers host the St. Louis Rams this Sunday and as expected, they are fairly heavy favorites. The 49ers open as 11-point favorites, which matches the Patriots vs. the Bills as the biggest line of the week.
It is not a shocking line given the direction each team is heading. The 49ers have claimed two straight wins over division opponents, while the Rams are scuffling along with three straight losses. The Rams' losses aren't exactly horrible, coming at Miami, at home against Green Bay and in London against the Patriots. They hung close with Miami and Green Bay, but then were easily blown out by the Patriots.
It will be interesting to see if this line moves between now and Sunday. I would be happy to bet the 49ers to cover on -11, and I think a lot of people will do so, sending this line up to 12 or 13 by kickoff.
