Insight on Aldon Smiths historic sack pace

Stay connected for news and updates

Now before I get started I want to say that I understand that its going to be tough for Aldon to keep the pace throughout his whole career and these numbers are about as likely to happen as the Browns winning a Super Bowl in our lifetime. This caught my eye though when looking at some numbers

Bruce Smith (NFL ALL TIME SACK LEADER)

Years played: 19

Career games: 279

Sacks: 200

Aldon Smith

Sacks in year 1: 14

Sacks in year 2: 19.5

Quick math projection. 19.5 sacks divided by 13 (number of games played to date) = 1.5 (Aldons sacks per game average)

Multiply that by 16 for the number of games this year 16*1.5= 24 (breaking the record yay!)

That gives Aldon 24 this year and 14 last year. Add and divide by two for the average means Aldon averages 19 sacks per year.

If Aldon keeps his pace that hes on (which I already mentioned how unlikly that is) for as long as Bruce Smith played (19 years) that would give Aldon...

19(years)* 19(sacks p/year) = 361 sacks in his career. Breaking the record by 161 sacks.

Now like I said this wont happen but he does have a 161 sack leeway. Taking out injury I say Aldon is going to be chasing this record one day.

Regardless we have a special player on our hands my friends!!
