We've all learned something today, although some have suspected for a while, about our coaching staff.
They're a good staff in lot of respects and they brought this team back to respectability but they're reckless, irresponsible, and impressed by fancy tricks and shiny baubles.
Is Kaepernick our future? Probably but we were all pretty sure that next year was his time. Why bring him in this year? What's the point? He's young, defenses will adjust no matter good he looks in a small sample size. Anyone remember Kevin Kolb shredding us a couple of years ago? What's the point when we know that Smith is good enough to get the team to a Super Bowl... he nearly did last season.
The plays... oh the plays. Too cute and too clever by half. What's the point of all of that? Why are we running gimmick plays when we should be trying to run out the clock?
Why did they come out passing all over the place against Minnesota? Why try to force the ball downfield against the NY Giants?
Why? Because our coaching staff, for all of their virtues, are kind of dumb and pretty reckless. They'll learn and they'll get better, I hope.
Take the points! Take the easy money! Take the sure thing!
Sigh... I'm happy that we're winning but some of these games have been painful and the coaching staff can be held responsible for at leas this one. How many more? How many, when it counts?
