Vernon Davis makes post-Patriots game trip

We take a look at Vernon Davis' visit to a Washington, DC school the day after the 49ers beat the Patriots.

One story that floated a bit under the radar saw 49ers tight end Vernon Davis provide quite the holiday surprise for some elementary school students. Shortly after the 49ers win over the Patriots, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Davis drove from Foxborough, Massachusetts to Washington, DC for an 11:00 a.m. event at George Truesdell Education Campus.

Davis is from the District, and he is incredibly active there and in the Bay Area in terms of working with kids on a variety of projects. Art is his main focus, but as this shows, he provides all sorts of fun times for kids. I've posted the video above, but you can also read the story and view the video at NBC Washington.

Speaking of kids, Amy K. Nelson put together a piece with SB Nation Studios looking at how a local sports complex provided an opportunity for kids in Newtown, Connecticut to at least momentarily escape all the insanity going on out there. You can check out the video below, but I also recommend checking out Amy's article.
