We break down the 49ers snap count from their 42-13 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
The 49ers dealt with a physical, ugly loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and the snap count reflects it. For the first time in a while, no defensive player played ever snap. Although the 49ers stuck with several players on offense until the bitter end, the 49ers went more prominently to some of their defensive reserves in the loss.
On offense, the losses of Vernon Davis and Mario Manningham meant more snaps for a few players. At tight end, Delanie Walker always has a large percentage of snaps, but that went up further. Garrett Celek got in plenty of work as he had a season-high in snaps.
At wide receiver, the loss of Manningham and the sizable early deficit resulted in a season-high snap count for Randy Moss. The team deactivated A.J. Jenkins before the game, which left them short-handed once Manningham went down. Assuming Manningham is unable to go next week, Jenkins would be active once again.
It is worth noting that Ted Ginn Jr. was on the field for one play as he fair-caught a punt. That was not listed in the snap count, so these numbers might not be 100% accurate. But given the team's decision to apparently not give him wide receiver snaps after Manningham went down, I think the writing is on the wall for his future after this season.
