The NFL will announce Pro Bowl rosters at 4:00 p.m. PT today, which means we'll finally get to know which 49ers will be honored by a combination of fans, coaches and fellow players. The Pro Bowl roster is determined by an even split of those three groups. While the game itself is generally pretty low key and not worth watching, it is still a cool honor to get the recognition.
The 49ers had nine players selected last season, including Frank Gore, Joe Staley, Justin Smith, Patrick Willis, Carlos Rogers, Dashon Goldson, Andy Lee, David Akers and Brian Jennings. This includes a mix of starters and reserves, which we'll likely see once again this season. Heading into the coaches and player voting, the 49ers positional leaders in the fan vote were Justin Smith, Patrick Willis, Mike Iupati, C.J. Spillman and David Akers.
We'll have the full list of 49ers players selected as soon as we hear them. The rosters will be announced starting at 4:00 p.m. PT on the NFL Total Access Pro Bowl Selection Show.
