Hello Niners Nation!
I love San Francisco and would move there in a heartbeat if I could get a job! I know many of you don't live there, but still.
I grew up hating you guys. Hating you for one reason. You ruined what might have been the greatest single season a QB ever had by simply outperforming Marino and the phins in the superbowl. You went on to win and win a lot. We haven't been back since and have been steadily going from perennial playoff team to mediocre at best. I know you guys also had a decent dark period, and we desperately tried to land the guy who shares credit in bringing you guys out of the dark ages. Unfortunately, media fiasco plane rides to hire coaches without firing the one still on staff don't always pan out.
But here we are. Yes, you just lost to a division rival in a tough game. We similarly lost in a pretty good match. We can talk about starting young QBs over incumbents who succeeded (relatively). But, our teams are in very different places. That being said, it has been a long time since the only thing I got out of football was joy at winning. I try not to put my happiness into the hands of something I have zero control over. I love the game and my team, whether we succeed or not.
One of the things I love to do is learn more about the game by discussing it with opposing fans. If you are like me, this is the post for you. Ask any question you have about our team, and we will try to respectfully answer as best as we can as fans. Also, please come to thephinsider.com where one of you has already posted a similar post to answer our questions!
Just to give you my feelings for starters:
I believe we are a team that alternates between often playing above its talent where it lacks it, and playing below its talent where we have it. How our new coach leads this team will be interesting to watch.
Thanks!
