It seems like a lot of fans are again taking a win this Sunday for granted. Why won't these people learn their lesson? Because people are failing to accept what is staring them in the face. We have gone from a Super Bowl favorite/contender to a playoff contender.
Why? Simple, we went from a veteran QB to a rookie QB. I'm not here to debate who is better now or who is better for the future. What cannot be denied is the following:
In 3 1/2 games CK has fumbled 3 times (but we haven't lost any), he has thrown 1 int (had one sure int negated by moss), was the direct cause of a safety (despite it being a bad call), and threw a bad pitch over the head of a ball carrier, and has led to 10 points for the opposing team.
Now there isn't one person who would deny the fact that if CK is to remain the starter and this team is to not only make the playoffs but contend for the SB, then these TO's and potential TO's cannot continue.
Where do we stand as a team? Not as secure as most seem to believe. We can lose our division. Now how many of you were thinking about that possibility before the first rams game. We can lose the 2nd seed.
We are on the ropes, but people dont seem to realize it. Yes we control our own destiny but we are inexperienced at the most important position. Why am I pointing this out? Is it to be a killjoy or to be anti CK? Nope, it's to argue that we need to change our expectations as fans because the press right now who really hate harbaugh are looking to exploit disgruntled and divided fans to put Jim in his place.
Im sure we can all agree that harbaugh is the best thing to happen to this team in some time. And regardless if we win the SB or get knocked out in the first round I certainly don't want to lose harbaugh to controversy. And I can really see this team imploding if we nosedive in the playoffs, and have a divided fan base, with a united media against harbaugh.
I for one have accepted harbaugh's change though I disagree with it in the short term. And I'm ok whether we win this year or not as long as the team remains a competitive force, that continues to improve. So if you are a 49er fan it's time to close ranks, and put our differences aside and get behind the team that is on the field. Because none of us want to go back to the days of Nolan or singletary.
