TOO LATE FOR WHAT?
All that is a catapillar parked outside Santa Clara 49er headquarters?
Nothing has but paper, has been done.
actually...
$850M in loans based on a new Santa Clara stadium is happening so probably a little late on this.

That is them already spending tens of millions starting the construction.

Parking Garage?
Ever throw a football in a parking garage?
Anything beyond fifteen feet skipps off the concrete ceiling.
great america parking lot is pretty big, there is also the convention center across the street which has a fairly large parking lot, there is also the surrounding businesses which have huge parking lots that are empty on sundays except when the niners play.
parking garage can be used for people who work at the stadium and for people who do not tail gate. the parking garage is also pretty small.

Too late
Anyone still doubting the likelihood of a new 49ers stadium need only visit team headquarters. Bulldozers and backhoes have been knocking down walls, laying down pipes and moving dirt in preparation for the 68,500-seat facility planned to go up across the street.

Half a stadium, 30,000 people waiting in line for a roller coaster
and it doubles as a truck stop in the bad part of town. Sounds so much better than having to put up with an evil parking garage.
We don't need 8 in the box. We have 52 in the box.
Tailgating
I spoke with someone at the 49ers and there will be plenty of outdoor parking. Here is a layout of the area once the stadium opens. To the west of the stadium (just above where it says Great America Theme Park) you’ll see a huge parking lot. The four story parking garage would likely be available for parking as well, but that is actually connected to the convention center. So, no, tailgating will not be ruined by the new stadium.
I’m not buyiing it. 30,000 people waiting in line for a roller coaster. You ever hear of game day passes. I garuntee you people will get stuck parking in that parking garage. Candlestick Point is a much better and cost effective site.
you're not buying it?
So the monstrous parking lot isn’t going to make a difference? Some people will probably park in the parking garage, but this is a pretty sizable parking lot next to the stadium.
by David Fucillo on Feb 21, 2012 3:25 PM PST up reply actions
there is also convention center parking not in the parking garage and there is plenty of high rise building with nobody parking there on sundays.
Plus the weather will be much better in Santa Clara.

It's like going to 31 flavors and ordering
VANNILA, dropping it on the floor and the cashier says you got to eat it. because you dropped it and you don’t half $2.00 for another ice cream.
I think he meant "have" instead of "half"
but still makes no cents. lol

no 3 second rule with ice cream
I imagine the cashier saying, “you have to eat it”
“Can’t I just throw it away?”
“EAT IT”
WEAK??? What could possibly be weaker than Candlestick?
Candlestick has been a politically-driven, poorly-located, horribly-designed, cheaply-built monstrosity since before it was even completed. It is the classic example of civic politics run amok … unfortunately, typically San Francisco … my home town.
The only surprise about the Santa Clara stadium is how long it took to abandon Candlestick … the sooner that the ’Stick is imploded the better!

What part of Remodel/Renovate Do You Not Understand
I just said that in today NFL world the PARKING LOT is almost as important as the stadium. Santa Clara doesn’t cut it.
How can SF provide better parking?
The situation is horrible compared to any stadium I’ve ever visited
As far as the 30,000 fans waiting for the roller coaster
HMMM let me see I could have a choice of roller coaster, or a Monstrous Cement Carbon Monoxide filled Parking Garage that I can’t have a barbeque in, play catch, and sit for two hours in carbon moxide filled air waiting to get out to street so I can get home. HMM……………………………………Let me see………………………………………….UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmHold on!!!!…………………………………………………………………..UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM………………….I’m thinking!!!……………………………………………………….UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM uh ROLER COASTER at least if the there is a line at the roller coaster I can take the escalator or stairs. I’ll take a pass on the Carbon Monoxide poisoning.
turn off your car then if you are in an enclosed parking garage!!!

I took a look at the 49er provided map. What a bunch of sh**. That area looks nothing like that. All there is out there is Great America and their parking lot. I want to know exactly how many parking spaces Great America is willing to give up on Game Days, From what I hear the Parking Garage is slated for 10,000 cars. THEY ANTICIPATE 25% using mass transit. Where did they get that figure? Football is not hockey, basketball or baseball it’s a different breed of fans. There is no way that will ever work.
the reply button is free to use
it doesn’t cost a dime to use it and makes the conversation easier to follow
how many people tailgate?
even if 75% of the people tailgate there is plenty of parking not in the parking garage.
People usually go with more than two people in a car if they tailgate.

so my conclussion
build a bigger parking lot in Santa Clara. That way you can go to the game and do what one does at the local park
I am now 25 minutes away from the nEw Stadium
so i love it
Forget Tebow

What Stadium?
It hasn’t been built. To me the parking lot numbers look suspect. Whatevever I rarely go to tailgates anymore. I will say this rember to swap your footballs for frisbees and your barbeques for oxygen tanks if your planning on parking in the Monster Garage before the game.
SMELL YA LATER
so you want to slash the billion dollar project
that has taken years and approval from Santa Clara because of the size of the parking lot? Instead, make the Frankenstein stadium in a terrible location into a low-grade amusement park with fast food? Am I getting this right?
Dude, I don’t give a rats a** if they build it or not. My argument is Candlestick Point has a larger footprint, “area for parking and amenities” and is more football fan “Tailgater” friendly. First off I haven’t been to a game in about 8 years and I aint going to probably go to the new stadium. I watch them on television. And 850 million is alot to spend on 10 gautunteed dates a year. If your going to spend money like that you better make sure you do it right. Cause anything worth doing right is worth doing right the first time.
doing it right?
If your going to spend money like that you better make sure you do it right. Cause anything worth doing right is worth doing right the first time.
Much of your comments makes it seem like the 49ers got cold-called by Santa Clara a few weeks ago and thought they did want to invest in their stadium idea. This has been in the planning process for over five years. This is not some fly by night plan.
by David Fucillo on Feb 22, 2012 11:51 AM PST up reply actions
el oh el
All you have are some half baked assumptions about the parking situation. I highly doubt your assumptions will remotely resememble how parking/tailgating will actually be implemented.
Also, what amenities are you talking about? Horrible delays trying to drive into the stadium? Paying $25 to park in some dirt lot a 1/2 mile away? Crappy buses from downtown? Zero bars, restaurants or other establishments? Pray tell. Reply button is right below…
All I know is you are going to have a smaller Outside Parking area with a new stadium, And your A** is probably going to have to fit into a smaller seat too. What are the demensions of Candlestick Parks seats, My guess is your probably lose 4-5 inches off the width, so you know that diet you have been talking about, get to it. You can be sure the corporate suits in the luxury boxes will be livin large.
Maybe they don’t want Tailgaters, hey more money for concessions. Who Knows?
What are the size of the seats in the new stadium?
I’ll tell you my a** was in shock the first time I sat at Pac Bell Park. Plus I had 2 fat guys sitting next to me, I felt like I was in the Alaska Wilderness huddling together to keep warm to stay alive.
That is of course if your not sitting in the promenade section which gives you another three inches.
But I like the stadium, I mostely just buy a ticket and walk around the park anyways when I go. Or I sit in the bleachers.
did you cuddle with the two bears at pac bell like you would in alaska?

No, I just made that up, because it was funny, unlike your comment.
SO HOW BIG ARE THE SEATS GOING INTO THE NEW STADIUM?
Are they bigger than a bread basket?
BET YOU WON’T ANSWER!!!!
Oh well I’m sure the stadium will be adequate.
I’m sure the field will look good on television.
BUT MY PROPOSAL WAS AWSOME!!!!!!!!
There is something about roller coasters and double ferris wheels that always fires me up.
I guess I just have 20/20 vision while the world wears bifocals-Writer of Cool Hand Luke

Now, I am really interesested. wWat are the width of the general seating seats slated for Adequate Park in Santa Clara? Who’s the Architec of the Stadium? I would really like to know.
Like I said, YOU ARE GAURUNTEED TO LOSE 4-5 INCHES OFF THE WIDTH SIZE OF YOUR SEAT, COMPARED TO YOUR SEAT AT CANDLESTICK!!!!!
CALL ME A LIAR!!!!
clarify
How do you know seats are guaranteed to lose 4-5 inches off the width size?

just called them
they said they don’t even have the seats so that information is not available. They guaranteed me that they will be more than adequate and that they will not go through so much trouble to not give us a pleasurable experience.
doubt they would be smaller, i am sure they are going to have better cup holders though

They want fan input. We are the customers. Better to find an issue now than when its all done.
How Do I know? Because the standard seat size on all new stadiums is Always 4-5 inches smaller than the Standard Seats from the Stadium Seating made in the Seventies. Although some of the baseball parks like in Wrigley Field tried to maximize space by making the seats small when they built the Stadium. Candlestick Parks seats by all standards is probably the biggest piece of stadium realestate of all stadiums in the country.

Do you think you will be able to smell Milpitas from the stadium????
Because that would suck… at least if Milpitas still smells like it used to. I admit I havent lived in the bay for 14 years or so know but I distinctly remember how bad Milpitas smelled….. It would be quite embarrassing if our new stadium had a home field advantage of Milpitas stink….. just sayin…. no pyrotechnics at the new stadium because of swamp gas…. and by the way, I am going to say it one more time:
Milpitas…..
