Gore, Hunter, on the field at the same time!!!
What do you think about having Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter in a pro set package?
What better way to through defenses off, then to have some more offensive production. Having our feature running back, number 21 in our programs and number one in our hearts, teamed up with the lightning bolt, Kendall Hunter on the field at the same time. Frank Gore is a beast, the best all time rusher the 49ers have had, but lets get real. He's getting to the point of his career, where it's time to share. Their was a time When this guy could handle the load, believe me.
I think in 2012, Jim Harbaugh and Gregg Roman should really think of using Hunter like the Saints used Darren Sproles. Sproles and Thomas worked good together, when they were on the field at the same time. I know when Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch played on the same field it worked. ( Well for awhile, till Jackson got hurt) I just think that the 49ers need a different look in the back field at times. It's no secrete when Miller or Norris comes in what we are doing. Hunter will be on this team for a long time. It's time for the Hunter and Gore Show. Oh yea, one more thing, get rid or Haralson.
Too busy winning!!!

Another Peyton wanted
Forget that ugly big necked QB in Indy………..how about Peyton Hillis? He has worn out his welcome in Cleveland, and I am sure he is an upgrade over Dixon. Lol. What a backfield that would be…..spell Gore with Hillis and then hit them with lightning fast Hunter…..Players like Hillis are going to start looking at SF as a destination……I know we have tons of pressing positional needs and FA issues….but man. I would love to see him in Crimson and Gold.

What a horrible way to spend our cap money
Large investment at one of our deepest positions…for a guy that will play 20% or less of the snaps? Does Hillis even play special teams? Sounds like a lose-lose.
and
he started as a full back, so you still have the lead blocker in the game. I’ve said this before. People hate Hillis for no logical reason. Yes he plays special teams, he’s returned kicks at times. We might get him cheap.
That would make me pretty happy, but I am an Arkansas guy, and Hillis is from here.
Repeating something over and over doesn't make it true.
Hmmmmm
First, I don’t know how “horrible” it would be to spend a little cap space on one of the best short yardage backs in the game. Second, and correct me if I’m wrong…..I saw his name listed as a free agent, so the investment would not have to be as “large” as you say. Jump on the Brown’s blogs and see what they think of him. Third, Frank isn’t getting any younger, and Hunter is not an every down back…….so, if Hillis can be had with an incentive-laden back-end heavy contract ( as has been discussed with other FA’s) tell me again how this is a lose-lose? Fairly certain he would play a little more than Dixon did……and much better. Btw, explain to me again how the RB position is deep, cause I am interested. We have a guy at the end of his his career (though one of the best) and a second year guy, who though electric, can’t pick up a blitz yet. Then there is Boobie Dixon who, well enough of this. His contributions on special teams are not enough for me to justify keeping him over a superior running back……if a Hillis-type runner got us two or three extra first downs a game our offense would have been more than average I am assuming. Just saying.

$4-5M is a large contract in my book for a backup RB
1. Hillis had one good year and is looking to get paid. He probably want’s a heck of a lot more than $5M. Plus some sort of mix between attitude and illness/injury issues. He’s not going to be cheap and there’s no guarantee that he’s that special of a RB.
2. Pretending that we’ll get him on a cheap incentive laden deal (for someone who’s overall stats will probably be less than 400 yards) is not feasible. This would definetely divert funds from resigning people like Rogers, Goldson, Brooks, Synder and Free Agents. There are much, much bigger holes to fill.
3. Why would Hillis even want to be the #2 or #3 RB on any team?? I have a really hard time believing he’d get much playing time, unless Gore go hurt.
4. Dixon is undervalued and your backups have to play special teams. Hunter was good at picking up the blitz, for a rookie, in my opinion. Gore has at least 1-2 more good years, Hunter is great and Dixon could be good if he’s given the opportunity. RB is also one of the easiest positions to find, as teams like the Broncos have proved time and time again.
Should have been implemented by mid season!
Hunter and Gore should have had 10-15 plays per game together since Morgan went down in my opunion. It allows all kinds of misdirections, bubble screens, and chaos for a an opposing D to handle. I was certain in the “last game” the coaching staff would recognize the need for it having a severely depleted WR core and with little hope of doing anything, During the game I was flabbergasted they didn;t use Hunter more
I think you have to look at a player like Hillis only because of Gores age.....
But another veteran RB we can look at is Michael Bush….. create some competition at the Position….
