Golden Nuggets: NFL Awards Provide Less-Than-Stellar Results
Good morning everyone. Yesterday, the NFL announced its awards, to much hilarity. There are so many odd things that don't make any sense, from John Fox receiving two votes for coach of the year and Terrell Suggs winning the defensive player of the year, but I will say that, yes, the Aldon Smith snub for defensive rookie of the year does anger me. Smith is clearly a better pass rusher and made a bigger impact overall because of it. I bet if he'd gotten half a sack more, he'd have won the award. I guess it's just as well that I think most of these awards are a joke. Let's get to the quick links for the day.

Would of voted Miller, TBH
Before the injury was playing other worldly… It wasn’t just the sacks. Looking at sacks, you can say “Aldon had more impact in half the snaps” but it just wasn’t the case.
It’s the same reason I thought Justin Smith was DPOY… does more on every play than just the guys who rack up 18, 20…. sacks.
As much as I love Aldon, this season he was a pure pass rusher who was in primarily in nickel packages for a reason, while Miller was a true linebacker, and one of the best overall. Guess that’s the best way I can sum it up..
The best true linebackers get benched because teams found they could run right at them successfully?

Stafford earned comeback
Guy nearly broke Marino’s yardage record while slinging over 40 touchdowns. This after playing in only three games.
Hoping someone can post the acceptance speech of AleX & Harbaugh ...!!
I'm your " Huckelberry "...it's just my game ..( .AleX ) was asked , what do you think about all the game manager talk ... AleX i guess i just managed myself a VIctory ... Extend the Man ...!!
Alex basically says
Coach Harbaugh and I are bff’s, he made me believe that not all head coaches are incompetent, back stabbers lol…..but seriously, he just mentions how Harbaugh is the kind of guy that would deflect praise to the coaches and players for the award, and Alex also makes a crack about having many coaches in his career

Honey Badger don't care about no awards
Either does Harbaugh evidently.
You take Suggs I’ll take Justin. You take Miller I’ll take Aldon.

Harbaugh obviously deserved all the votes...
But I’m not that mad about Fox getting a couple votes (I’m surprised Marvin Lewis didn’t get any votes?). I think sometimes writers will vote for guys when there’s otherwise an obvious choice to acknowledge the achievements of the other candidates who aren’t going to win. The guy turned around a 1-4 team, and won the division and won a playoff game against the defending AFC champs while completely overhauling his offense to fit Tim Tebow’s skills…. Why does everyone think it’s surprising that he got a couple of votes?
Because he went 8-8 with an negative point differential, got blown out several times
He did a good job, but Harbaugh aside, there are coaches who deserve way more credit than Fox gets. Namely Kubiak, Lewis, Belicheat, and McCarthy are all more deserving of votes than Fox.
