Josh Morgan doesn't fit the 49ers anymore...might as well say goodbye

With Moss signed, Flanker and Split End are filled positions.

Even though Moss will probably be our #2 behind Crabtree, Moss will play the #1 position at Flanker because of his style of play -- Crabtree will be at Split End because he can handle the jam easier. Crabtree moved to the Z last November, which was a big deal for him, but he fits the Split End better. Flanker is more of a status thing anyway -- those lines are blurred nowadays.

so at this point, here is our depth chart:

Crabtree

Moss

*

Williams (slot)

*

For all those clamoring to re-sign Morgan, he simply does not fit anymore. What we are lacking is a receiver to play in the slot -- as a result Eddie Royal is probably the best fit. He also returns punts and kicks, so Ginn doesn't have to be re-signed. Optimally, I would like to sign Royal and re-sign Ginn -- our depth chart would look like this:

FL/Z: Moss

SE/X: Crabtree

SL: Royal

SL2: Williams

FL2: Ginn

SE2: Rookie -- or Delanie Walker

KR: Ginn

PR: Royal

KR2: Royal

PR2: Ginn

KR3: Williams

PR3: Williams
