The latest news related to the 49ers indicates that right guard Adam Snyder is down in Arizona for a visit with the Cardinals today. As the 49ers have handled some of their internal business and add some additional guys at wide receiver and cornerback, the right guard position remains in a state of extreme flux.
There is no indication the team has any interest in retaining Chilo Rachal, and all is quiet on the 49ers side of the Adam Snyder front. Snyder was not a spectacular guard last year, but he does provide great depth for the team. After getting a chance to start for most of last year, Snyder is likely on the lookout for a chance to secure a starting job somewhere and that might not be available in San Francisco.
Steve Hutchinson is a guy some folks have brought up, and he would provide a solid short term solution if the team is looking at younger options for the future. However, reports indicate there is a strong possibility he ends up in Tennessee.
Where does that leave the 49ers? I would be surprised if they rolled out the bank for a guy like Ben Grubbs. Where does Daniel Kilgore fit into the picture? The 49ers had a limited offseason to look him over and he spent most of 2011 inactive. Could they be looking to roll the dice with another young guy on the line?
