The Peyton Manning World Tour might be close to wrapping up in the next few days as Manning is set to actually work out for some teams in Durham, North Carolina. The Denver Broncos are flying out to check out the work out in an indoor facility. To date, Manning had traveled around talking to teams but not throwing for them.
The Denver Post is reporting the finalists could be Denver and the Tennessee Titans. Their report also indicates the Arizona Cardinals are likely out of the race. They have to know today because they owe a $7 million roster bonus to Kevin Kolb at approximately 1:00pm PT. If they were to sign Manning, Kolb would get the axe. If Manning does not sign, it seems like the Cardinals will keep Kolb in spite of the fact that they are not happy with the return on their initial investment.
More importantly, losing out on Manning helps the rest of the NFC West. Had the Cardinals landed Manning, they immediately become a serious threat in the NFC West. Even with other questions up and down the roster, a potentially healthy Manning throwing to Larry Fitzgerald is plenty scary. The health issue, or at least the arm strength issue, remains significant, but if he can make the throws, Manning would be a huge addition. Consider the rest of the NFC West pleased with recent developments.
