Albert Breer tweeted out last night that Peyton Manning has reportedly told clubs he plans on making his final decision by Monday or Tuesday of this coming week. Of course, he immediately followed that with this tweet:
... People involved aren't convinced he'll stick to that, partially because the process has been lengthy already. We'll see what happens.

So basically that means we can't bother to hold our breath in the coming week. Peyton Manning Decision 2012 could end in a couple days, or it could very well drag later into the week. None of us really knows at this point as Manning seems to control the entire process. So much so that my guess is his party was the group that released info about his workout with the 49ers.
I suppose the 49ers could have released information as a way of pressuring Alex Smith to sign, but I am not sure that is what is going on. Given that Smith and Manning have the same agent, I just don't know how much leveraging one against the other can really work. This could simply be a fairly straight up process.
