First of all, as a 49er fan I hate to see our management and coaches doing things in secret. It reminds me a little bit of the Saints and their pending "Bountygate" scandal. I hope that the Niners brass at least showed a little deserving respect to Smith at most, only to let him know what their intentions were before entering the "Manning Sweepstakes" competition. Alex is a tough kid... seven years in the league and he's been treated more poorly before..He can handle it. With that said, I would like to suggest my opinion on....drum role please !!
Scenarios for why Colin Kaepernick will be announced as the starting Quarterback of the San Francisco Forty-Niners sometime during the 2012-13 season...
Remeber this scenario suggests that Peyton Manning has already made his choice as having the San Francisco 49ers his chosen team of destination.
This is just my first "rather lengthy, argument scenario", for why it will happen...hopefully with more to come...at least until Tuesday...which is supposedly the day Manning's long awaited "team I want to play for" decision is made..
Again, Please feel free to write or reply with you're own case scenario's which would make...CK a starter for sometime this next season, with Peyton Manning already being a member of the 49ers.
Scenario Number One :The 49ers of course can't offer the $90 million that Denver does..but, Peton says "screw that" and thinks to himself, "I've, gotta be crazy, the 49ers give me the best chance of what I really want in life"..."RINGS". "No way my little squirrly brother beats me out on that one and stops me from being Dads "favorite son". Forty-Niner fans upon Peytons announcement and in their moment of mass hysteria and jubilation...forgot all about "the little engine that could"...Alex Smith. Later in his headquarters, Coach Harbaugh lets Alex Smith know that he is no longer the team's starter...Alex enters a dark depression, an abyss so deep - that only un-discovered grotesque sea creatures can dwell in it . Alex, in all his agony and needing to confide with someone, by chance happens upon Kyle Williams. He knows that Kyle might be the reason that he finds himself in this predicament right now, but despite that still confides with him anyway. Why? because Kyle might be the only one that "feels his pain" at this very difficult time.. After more than an hour, agonizing together and grasping for a reason, WHY ? Both Men reach a "moment of clarity" and a "conviction" and with this conviction they see a light, a light that shines forth the "truth." The truth being, an understanding that in losing - both had became scape-goats or a victim of "the team". Not directly, by those that are the "the team" but consisting of many, who watched and cheered the team from a distance. "The Team" a term meaning something, something that only brothers of that membership can fully understand. However, despite the peace that came with this understanding they made the rash choice or poor decision to join a nearby traveling circus that was in town. The act they perform as ordered by the circus's ring-master involves confusing various acts of tossing, juggling and catching yellow banana peels, at least that's how it was described to the listening public...but now, getting back to the CK starting Quarterback scenario and this is a big BUT and IF.....the "unthinkable" occurs....On week four of the NFL's season an un-defeated Forty-Niner team is playing out of town to an also un-defeated Saints team, this game as it is happening, has Peyton Manning in action stepping back to pass to an already wipe-open Randy Moss, who is spotted sprinting down the far side-lines. Suddenly, a blitzing Jonathan Vilma comes out of no-where . Vilma just happens to be suffering from a previously un-diagnosed concussion to the head. Jonathan in his rage forgets the NFL's newly imposed "Bounty Rules". Vilma, goes un-appeased between the interior lineman, sprints around the outside and without restraint lays a ferocious hit on Quarterback Peyton Manning's blind-side . A hit so hard that even Eli, Peytons llittle brother, feels it. And, this despite the fact that Eli is over 1200 hundred miles away. In tomorrows newspaper the Headline reads..."Peyton Manning Suffers Injury, out for the Sseason"... after sugery, Peyton's head a-top the neck is found to be fine. In addition the Doctors have discovered that his head was without injuries and now also has the un-canny ability to fully rotate a complete 360 degrees. When discovered and told about this...Peyton and all the fans agree that this latest injury could also become one of his most formiable weapons. However, upon further evaluation the Doctors concur that the injury could take another full 18 months to heal. This injury leaves Peyton wondering if now is the right time to retire? San Francisco fans around the world are found asking - What to do? What to do? and constantly start asking about another Quarterback to replace Peyton Manning. In the aftermath, and confusion a call goes out, a call from Coach Harbaugh who nervously wonders, speculates and eventually cries out to find Him! Who ? Who, is that you wonder he called? and to everyone's surprise it is "Alex", Yes, Alex, the same Alex Smith who was once called an "Elite Quarterback" and at the time was found to be in "good favor" with his friend, mentor and coach. When this call went out from the Coach ..it left many wondering..and questioning...his intentions, But when the Niner Nation heard his word and the name he spoke which was "Alex "once again, it was overwhelmingly agreed upon that most every Forty-Niner fan instantly started to remember the past. It didn't come quickly at first but then the memory grew, a memory that was suddenly re-kindled around a "magical season" a memory that is forever im-printed upon the minds of every forty-niner faithful. A in-dullable memory for a team that "rose up", "rose up from the ashes" of dis-belief and despair. A team that gave a City, new-found hope. A team, that will always be remembered for beating back all the naysayers "grave" speculation's. A "team" that we could call our own. A team that had a burning passion and desire that came deep from with-in. Despite all the odds that forged against it, "this team" listened to the "one single beating heart of unity". A purpose and a mission that roared "I Must", "I Can","I Will". This was a team that truly "brought us to our feet". It was said later one of the team's Captains had been asked about the previous season. The player replied, and stated proudly and promptly, "that his previous season, was a "once in a life-time season"..one who that as a member of "was unlike any that he had played on before or ever would play on again"...He spoke more on and on "about "integrity", "toughness" and of "mighty men". Men "who rose up to any challenge" and in the end had left all that they had "upon the field of battle"...
Meanwhile, back in San Francisco, team telephone calls for Alex's return came back unanswered....and a conversation in the background with reporters is overhead...a traveling circus owner who happened to be back in town continually repeated his statement over and over to the tireless reporters, "no comment", and "I don't remember" to the very strange questions being asked about an accidental death of an ex-quarterback from injuries that he suffered in freak lion attack.
